I traded my full Vivaldi 2.0 stack for this Nagra. And I know of at least two more people that did the same.
Completely different character in sound. Vivaldi much more analytical. Nagra much more life like. The instruments and voices sound more correct. It is not a matter of timbre, but rather...
Once, the remote to my projector changed the clock's frequency. I would proceed as @jfrech suggested and then lock the clock's setting, to avoid this from happening again.
In my audio journey, I had 3 big leaps. One was going from Dynaudio C30 to kef blades. The other was from the blades to boenicke W11. Finally, from boenicke to Sonja. All of them of similar magnitude and importance.
Going from the blades to the boenicke opened a new world of detail and...
One more for Nagra. Currently using Nagra HD X Dac, on an all Nagra HD system. Beforehand, had a full Vivaldi system. The Vivaldi is great, but Nagra definitely better. Much more nuanced and musical.
Waiting now for the Nagra streamer.
That's exactly the point. Should the preamp not be fully balanced, the xlr would become an unbalanced connection. In this case, you should connect single-ended.
But, with the input transformer, the nagra hd becomes fully balanced, and will respond accordingly to the xlr connection.
Just chiming in. I think that with the Vivaldi, the input transformer is a must. The Vivaldi xlr uses a floating ground, so it needs the negative on pin3 to work properly. Or you need to tie pin3 to ground on the preamp side (I must certainly would not like to do it). If not, the signal would...
Wow. The opposite of my experience. That is also an indicative that te results are system dependent. Also agree with your conclusion: absolutely a matter of personal preference.
You have to go menu -> settings -> dxd locked
Then in Mosaic you select either 352 or 384. Upsampler will adjust automatically depending on the family rate of the file (44.1 or 48).
My experience with DxD is a more focused layout, but the soundstage narrower and with less ambience. You feel...
No doubt Ethernet is the way to go with the Vivaldi. My point was about the perception of better SQ. If it was from a better USB, or from a better Ethernet connection
Terribly sorry to hear about it. Until now, never had a bad experience with lightning storms. But I am glad your streamer survived. Did the cables get burned? I've seen cases where ethernet cables virtualy melted.
The icons show as if it is in sync. And when I change to DSDx1 no stuttering happens. I posted a ticket on dCS community support. Let's see how they troubleshoot
That is odd. When I play AIFF high res through Roon, DSDx2 stutters. No other rates suffers. Well, it was my first day with the Vivaldi. I will try with the original flac file.
Guys, I just got into the Vivaldi system. I got the Dac, the upsampler and the clock.
After upgrading to the latest software version, I began listening and tweaking.
What filters and upsampling rates do you prefer?
Also, I did notice stuttering when upsampling high-res (192khz) to DSDx2. Do...
