SOtM sNH-10G Network Switches x2 : The NEW KING of USB/Network Gadget Setup

Hello valicu2000, if you look from the top of the SOtM sNH-10G you can see a green LED light blinking inside in one second rhythm. With a correctly connected 10 MHz external clock a additional second green LED light starts left of the blinking light to shine steady. The problem with the Mutec...

Adjusting screw tightness on Esoteric K1X helps a lot!

Hello Notdead, yes, you have to take out the pcb and replace the smd opamp with a Muses 03 four times in total. Be sure before soldering the opamp that the orientation is correct. Attention: if the pcb fixing screws are all out, you can easily pull with no force the connector to the side. The...

    Melco HA-N1Z / 2EX-H50 Digital Music Server - Owner Review (Part1)

Thank you Kimurastanley for your hint to the new N10/2 with his additional linear power supply. Seems to be a real progress to the N1Z with the integrated two switching power supplys. There is a rewiev in hifistatement with pretty pictures: www.hifistatement.net/tests/item/3349

Adjusting screw tightness on Esoteric K1X helps a lot!

Hello AMR / iFi audio, It is a two stage 12 dB Filter with 1.8kOhm and 470 pF followed by 5.6kOhm with 100 pF, Feedback resistor is 2,4kOhm, so the gain is a little over 1, perfect for OPA627. Im sorry, Im not engaged in physical theory of OP amps and dont know much about it. So I depend on...

Adjusting screw tightness on Esoteric K1X helps a lot!

Hi! Fine to meet someone who is also heavily engaged in audiophile parts. Obviously you know more about available OPamps than me. Are you a part of the R&D team of ifi audio? Yes,, I order from Mouser, parts come direct from Texas. OPA627 has laser trimmed input resistors for the ultra low Ib...

Adjusting screw tightness on Esoteric K1X helps a lot!

Yes, you are right, an endless and super interesting field. A bit like cooking for different tastes. But we can agree that the NE5534 is best to be exchanged, and that it can be easily done. So I personally dont fear warranty problems and never had one. And you are right also with the...

Adjusting screw tightness on Esoteric K1X helps a lot!

Thank you! Sockets for OP amp rolling is an effective way if you want to try out and find out what matches best your favorite musical taste. And for my taste BB OPA627 fits the best. And also OPA 627BP sounds worse in a socket. (worse input guarding). And in this filter application the input...

Adjusting screw tightness on Esoteric K1X helps a lot!

It began last century with the Esoteric VRDS 25X and his output stage. OP amp rolling was very popular theese days in Germany. Actual pictures are from K-03XD, I changed (myself) the NE5534 to OPA627BP. An incredible huge difference to my ears. I own the N-01XD with P-02X and made the...

Esoteric seems to sound weird after 6-8hrs of running

yes, the Grandioso K1X is the only player with the external power supply possibility. And so it is uncompareable to all our similar gear. Do you own and use the PS1? Could you experience the same with and without the PS1? Could you find out how the switch between the internal and the external...

    Modding Esoteric Grandioso K1X

Dear Keetakawee, all Muses Op Amps like Muses01 or Muses 02 or Muses 8820 are dual OP Amps and often used in Esoteric gear like N-05 or F-05 and the earlier XS series. And I share your opinion about the sound of these OP Amps. All these Muses OP amps are begging me to be exchanged to dual OPA627...

I use my N-01XD without degression in sound after warm up. Maybe cleaning the interconnect contacts could help, avoid contact oil.

    Melco HA-N1Z / 2EX-H50 Digital Music Server - Owner Review (Part1)

You can get many good tips for the Melco in www.hifistatement.net. For example you better use the Ethernet connection instead of the usb connection. And use a switch. And you can easily exchange the HDD to a SSD. My personal favorite is the Samsung 860 pro 4 Tb.

    N-05 Player and DSD128

Hello swsmith, probably you have connected your N-05 with your NAS via Ethernet cable? Best over switch? You have nothing done wrong, the N-05 accepts only DSD64 ( DSD 2,8Mhz ) via this connection. And the USB connection sounds much worse, so you should live with this little restriction.

Adjusting screw tightness on Esoteric K1X helps a lot!

The clock signal is on both DAC PCBs further divided by small integrated amps into four branches leading to the outer line of the 8 transistor switches outside of the resistor array to syncronise the inner line of transistors, switching the 8 resistors which are in the middle connected and lead...

Optical Fibre Cable for Finisar FTLF1324

I also like the sonore optical module for my finisar 1324 sfp. Sonore offers now a little bigger deluxe version, with better heat dissipation, easier to connect with all connections on the same side, not much more expensive, and to my ears even a bit better sounding.

    Esoteric D-03 & G-0s

Can you find out which digital format your NAD CI580 delivers and at which frequency? Can you select exact that frequency at your clock and at your DAC? Otherwise I have no idea, sorry.

    K01 XD

My personal opinion, go for a good ( Cybershaft ) 10Mhz clock with 4 outputs. And you can connect the clock to your etherregen also. If you want to exit digital from your K-01XD avoid USB and select AES-EBU via digital XLR to your DAC. Please compare and share your findings.

    Esoteric D-03 & G-0s

Hello KKim, both your units work with the wordclock system. Did you try this: first set your clock output to 44,1 kHz to the exact corresponding output of the G-0s. Connect to the BNC word clock input of your DAC and select Clock input. If that works, you can try 88,2 kHz or higher. Both...

    K01 XD

Yes, congrats to your K-01XD! And your 10Mhz clock is not a waste, you can later use it to connect your streaming chain ( Esoteric N-03T, SOtM sNH 10G, etherregen etc.) If your clock has only one output, i therefore recommend the cybershaft transformer type CYB-DS01 distributor, it fits perfect...

    K01 XD

My personal impression resulting from experience with different Esoteric players/DACs as D02X and K01XS and N-01 with many different clocks was always and reproducible so, that the external clock was a huge improvement. And each clock S/N upgrade was easily recognizable. But with the exchange...

SOtM sNH-10G Network Switches x2 : The NEW KING of USB/Network Gadget Setup

A very experienced friend and professional hifi - tester / writer gave me the advice that the SFP input of the SOtM sNH 10G is not as good as the SFP input of the Melco S100 switch. So I added to the SOtM the SonoreOM. Thanks to CKK, Steve and Kris, my ethernet chain now is quite complex but...

Cybershaft new top model 10M clocks : UPOCXO-OP20A/OP21A

In my combination with the OP20A and the Esoteric K-01XS together with the N-03T, both units sound better with the low output settings. Both are working, but the low output position sounds better, more natural with a bit more atmosphere. The difference was not great but it was audible. I have no...
