Hi Rob181, In general vague descriptors, in what region of the world do you reside? BAYZ Audio participates in shows around the world. While Dartzeel-BAYZ Audio combination cannot not be guaranteed, you might be able to audition BAYZ Audio Counterpoint or Courante or the debut of a new model...

Hi Emperyan, The carbon fiber versions (Counterpoint CF and Courante CF) are clear-coated; however, either version can be painted in any RAL color the customer desires. The Counterpoint and Courante Piano Black version are glass fiber construction. The rigidity of the enclosure is a...

Hi Emperyan, The questions you ask are very good and apply to all ported loudspeakers. At the mid- and high frequencies, your questions apply to all sealed loudspeakers too. Yes, you are correct. When a driver produces a positive sound pressure in the room, it is simultaneously producing a...

Emperyan, I will do my best to explain the unique and advanced operation of the Bayz Audio speakers. When the Courante or Counterpoint receives a signal at mid-frequencies, the lower woofer's cone moves vertically upward and the top woofer's cone moves vertically downward combining to...

    What works for omnidirectional speakers?

Emperyan, With 47 SqM, Bayz Audio will sound exceptional. The Courantes were exhibited in Sweden in 100 SqM with no problems, had plenty of SPL, and they sounded incredible! Use of diffraction will yield a euphoric experience and will more closely resemble a live performance. But...

Can anyone on WBF recommend one or more high end UK dealers with proper showroom and the best electronics? Thanks in advance!

No, they are slightly different: the BRS tweeter in the Courante and the Counterpoint are the exact same technologies and materials; the only difference is the height.

Although no one asked, I thought I'd share information about measurements and microhones. Look at this measurment of the Bayz Audio Courante tweeter at 2 kHz and 40 kHz. First, notice that the BRS tweeter is flat to 50 kHz. Because of physics, a 1/8" diameter microphone must be used for...

Hi adyc: Bayz Audio loudspeaker systems are designed to be omni directional in the entire frequency band all the way to 40 khz. The plot shown in the website is the original BRS only at 1 kHz. This is the polar response of the latest version of the Courante BRS tweeter with the listener at...

Having not auditioned the speakers shown in the picture, Bayz Audio has no “hands on” experience to share. It’s comparing “apples-and-oranges” and will largely depend on personal preference.

Bob, can you please share your insight and experience with tubes vs SS in driving the Counterpoints and Courante? Is one better than the other or did both provide good results? What would you consider minimum power? Thanks!

Also note the prototype Bayz Audio 100W class A amp which uses patented technologies. We were not going to produce amps until everyone went crazy over the amp so, we will be releasing an amp and pre-amp in the near future.

Thank you for posting the video. Were you at HiFi Deluxe? If yes, what is your impression of the Courante and/or Counterpoint? Too bad people were talking during the audition but I think you can still hear the realism.

PeterA: you are spot on with regard to direct -vs- reflected sound. But you do not need to be in the near field (meaning up close on the speaker). You do sufficient distance between direct and reflected sound to get the sense of a real event. Typically, the speakers are further apart with...

    Bayz Audio Counterpoint 2.0 >>>>Rhapsody.Audio

The implementation of subwoofers is very complex. It involves crossover point and slope, phase, room dimensions, room absorption, stiffness room walls, and the rise time of the sub. The subwoofer's motor is an electrical circuit that must be charged from "zero" and then accelerate a mass; this...

Infinitely baffled: apologies for the late response. For the foreseeable future, the Counterpoint will remain the flagship of Bayz Audio. While our lead over our competitors is protected by our patent on the Bayz Radial Speaker (patented in the EU, US, Japan, China, and India), the...

Why do some High Efficiency Speakers Sound Better with Lower-Powered Amplifiers than with Higher Ones?

Hi Caesar part 2: I've given your question further thought. With more power, a proportionately larger power supply is requred. I would speculate that the noise level is proportional to the size of the power supply; this would include the mechanical noise from the power supply's transformer...

Why do some High Efficiency Speakers Sound Better with Lower-Powered Amplifiers than with Higher Ones?

Hi Caesar, This is my opinion and largely unsubstantiated; nevertheless, it is logarithmically harder to produce good sounding, high powered amps. In other words, twice the power will be four times more difficult to produce, four times the power, sixteen times harder, and so on. First, the...

Infinitely baffled: To the best of my knowledge, the manufacturer (Bayz Audio) has never insisted "...the sub 25 hertz region is irrelevent or unimportant." That decision is up to each individual. Because of the exceptional impulse response of the Bayz Audio Counterpoint and Courante, both...

A quick note about sensitivity: the speakers are 94 dB/2.83V/m on axis and anywhere 360 degrees around the speaker. That’s why Bayz speakers appears to be so much efficient than a monopole rated at the same on axis sound pressure level (SPL). It’s because the monopole’s SPL drops off sharply...

    Bayz Audio Counterpoint 2.0 >>>>Rhapsody.Audio

Steve: the impedance is extremely flat from 200Hz on up to 50 kHz with absolutely flat phase. Consequently, the speakers work well with tube or SS.

    Bayz Audio Counterpoint 2.0 >>>>Rhapsody.Audio

Continued: in practice, the spikes help level the speakers because of uneven floors/carpets and decouple floor vibration going into the speakers., not the other way around. A quick note about the surreal sound; we’ve become so acclimated to monopole sound from speakers, we think this is...

    Bayz Audio Counterpoint 2.0 >>>>Rhapsody.Audio

A quick note: the woofer work in phase; that is, both cones move outward simultaneously. While one cone moves upward, the other cone moves downward. The force cancels but the sound pressure level doubles. That’s one reason why the speakers don’t need spikes: the forces cancel out.
