It's show conditions, for sure. I know I was struck by their tone and texture on the last day of Munich 2023. Some of the best bass I've ever heard, and the whole presentation got me thinking these could be the ones (certainly on The List).
Oh, I listened all three days, and can attest to the improvements you note. I went there several times each day, as this is a speaker of great interest to me. Friday was certainly the worst in this regard, but I felt I had to give it allowance for bass lumpiness and smear due to that room...
Would have been my favorite room of the show if they could have sorted the bass better, but that 30' cube of a room is impossible. The air, speed and harmonic revelation up above the bass has me definitely wanting to hear these in a well-sorted set up.
Very informative, and thank you for the comparison files to download. I'm very curious to try the same comparison in my own system, but I'm feeling dense: how best to run these via the Extreme to test SQ differences? How do you store them with differentiation and play them so you know what it...
Well, will wonders never cease? The Roon goons had scolded us all for years about how folder view was a silly thing, too limiting to even bother with. That lacking was my biggest functional complaint about their UI. That's really good news!
Yeah, significantly better SQ than we currently enjoy (300%! :p ) and Roon as the interface sounds like "end game" to me. Every time I use the Roon interface I am so much happier, but XDMS does rule on SQ, so......
Got that, but I am contemplating making my NAS more remote, and it would cool if I could still use the DCD to power it. Just wondering how long would be considered too long - - "edge of failure" analysis, call it.
Wrapping the rockwool with virtually any cloth will keep the material from shedding particles. I used a coarse burlap for my 2' x 4' x 4" panels to good effect. There are acoustically transparent options out there, but I was looking for the bass absorption capability primarily, to tame a small...
I'm hoping to get clarity on one concern: using the new Olympus + I/O with XDMI feeding a Lampi Horizon, will one still be able to use a USB connection out for other DAC's (or with the Horizon, if only for shits and giggles comparisons)?
Will these footers be removable from the outside of the chassis? I ask, because on the Extreme you cannot do so without essentially dismantling the innards, which stops one from using, say, Revopods in a threaded fashion. It would be great to avoid this in the Olympus and I/O.
I would love to learn which LPS's you and other Seismion owners are using. I have four Reactio's and am contemplating a few more to complete things. I have yet to try a LPS.
And I am curious: what differences in sound quality do you hear when going from their standard SMPS to an LPS with...
While I certainly shared your take on these two at the Munich 2023 show, my greatest "take away" from that show was how little you actually can learn at them. There just are so many variables in play at once, and in a tough environment. That said, I concluded that if something sounds really...
I definitely hope Ron probes the reasons for that change. From what I experienced at last year's Munich show, that is not an obvious move. But, you know, show conditions...
Wait, what?! You mean I'm not going to get my 300% SQ increase with the O + I/O upgrade? I've been counting on that (and eager to hear just what 300% could possibly mean).
Yes, that's a really important point! Lots of folks have found problems using these expensive fuses at the same value levels as the OEM ones, burning out really early. How much does one need to "uprate" them?
I've been running the Statement LPS on a Taiko Router + Switch set up, and it really doesn't heat up much, but sounds very good. I have moved up in quality with a chain of power cords, and the SQ differences with each step up were rather significant, like "shake my head" so. If you haven't...
I agree with you 100%, Elliot - - there's so much more on these recordings than we have heard historically. With some peripheral hardware additions and some software updates, my digital is playing long familiar albums that sound like remixes, almost. There is so much more layering and nuance...
Yep, we are an impressive bunch of speculative wankers, eh? A lot of the page accumulation comes from the, to me, very annoying "wiki" method of documentation for the Taiko products, which results in lots of repeated questions and what not.
We all need pledges with some of us others to help in the "clean up", come that day, which would make it much easier for the family to deal with, I believe. I just worry that I'll outlive my audio buddy community... Gotta make younger connections!
