Totally subjective. I am surprised you like the A5; typically, Magico and Wilson are at the opposite people's tastes. I had the Alexia 2 in my system for couple of weeks. Lets just say that I do not share your observations.
Are they both set up the same? There is a huge difference, both in bass and midrange (and tweeter obviously). Particularly in micro dynamics, overall resolution and compression at high SPL (on tweet). If you are not hearing that, you may have not optimized your A5 setup.
Sorry, I don't think you understand the concept of time-coherent speaker. You obviously didn't even read the link I sent (Hint; its not a review  ). Anyway, have it your way, this is a waste of time.
Oh it is clearly a ‘’marketing fluff”. Please read: https://www.stereophile.com/features/100/index.html
JA explains what is a time-coherent loudspeaker.
his conclusion: " Fig.11 shows a good step response produced by a time-coherent, three-way loudspeaker, with the outputs of the three...
None of these big speakers are time aligned (if you follow the scientific/acoustic definition of what is “time alignment”).
In fact, unless digitally, actively driven, it would be extremely difficult, with lots of compromises involved to achieve (6db per octave slopes, diffraction, etc)
250 hours to stabilize. Playing at listening SPL, not just low-level FM or pink noise. I also use Purist Audio burn in cd, at a moderate to high level (carefully - not too high), when I can. It seems to speed things up.
I guess you are the only one who listens before buying. The rest of us are idiots.
So there you have it. You should listen to the A5 and find out for yourself.
Indeed!
To me, all the Sopras (2 and 3) sound splashy and bloated, just like described in the report.
I would add that Ayre would not be my first choice of amplification.
Here is a comparison between the Sopra and the A3.

Regardless, the A5, imo, are substantially better than the A3.
What would be considered an "exotic tweeter", and as such why would they work better in a speaker like the M9?
And a Ferrari is just four wheels and an engine.
Already happened, it's called the A5. It looks like the new S3 is also benefiting for the R&D done on the M9. Will see...
Was not my intent, I am looking for real information on the subject. As JA said, there are only a handful of loudspeakers he ever measured that can claim time coherency. All small, but Dunlevy, which is long gone. Such a buzz word, yet not much support for any claims made.
Interesting. Are you saying that your subs are crossed at 6 dB per octave slop (1st order)? That would mean that they would be quite audible throughout the midrange. Unusual.
Just comparing the old Q5 or Q3 prices to the new S3, one can argue that Magico's value proposition is consistently increasing. I am looking forward to hearing the new S3.
