Count me in to the group of people of who has not heard the Fynes but would be very surprised if there are many speakers out there that would best Haileys on every parameter, let alone the Fynes.
I am in this hobby for more than 25 years now and it is my understanding that YG Haileys belong to...
Thanks for the invitation, would be please to do so but I am in Turkey at the moment. I am sure they are great from what I read in forums about Göbel but dont think they are available here.
Not really, both are very nice speakers, so it is not a matter of being bored.
It is just the fact that I am 53 now and would like to try as many different brands as possible
I have lived with many different speakers throughout the years, one at a time, only to come to the conclusion that...
Hi guys,
I am planning to go for a change in one of my speakers just for the sake of trying different brands.
The alternatives that are "available"
- Graham 5/8
- Tad Evolution 1
- Tidal Contriva Diacera SE
- Raidho D3 V2
- Focal Stella Utopia EM
- Wilson Alexia 2
- Diesis Audio Caput Mundi
I...
I had similar experience with a set of B&W 802D (older d version, not diamond)
It was a speaker I tried 15 years ago with high expectations at a dealer and was highly disappointed and bought a Wilson Sophia 1 instead.
3 years ago, I moved to a multi floor house and needed a second system for...
Congratulations on your choice. Hailey is an amazing speaker.
As for amps, give Jadis a try if you can
Maybe hard to imagine but I prefer Jadis 300b SET liveliness, tonality and detail to Gryphon Antileon Signature which bested Constellation Centaur before.
This is why I will give a try to...
Ok but still think tolerance is better. Being an owner of Magico A5, I enjoyed your comments on this speaker, and I am offered a chance to buy a Diesis Caput Mundi at a nice price, thats why I was reading this whole 77 post thread.
Nevertheless, would be pleased to know how you compare A5 to...
Sorry but who gives you the right to tell anybody how and where to comment on an open public forum? Being a reseller of the brand and not the original op, I believe you should be much more careful and tolerant. I am curious about what DasguteOhr has adressed, and so seems two posters who raised...
I have not heard the Fynes but YG 2.2 is a hard act to follow imho. The Nenuphars, which co exist in my system now, are a totally different story though.
@KeithR
I am having Hailey 2.2 side by side with a newly acquired Cube Audio Nenuphar for 1 week now and the impressions are very interesting to say the least.
Would be very curious to learn your observations if you ever have the chance to check out Nenuphar yourself.
I have to say it is not much of a coup as after I had another chance to test both speakers at home with Gryphon Antileon Signature instead of Centaur 500s, I changed the amplifiers and then went on with Hailey 2.2s instead of A5.
This seem to validate YG Hailey 2.2 s is more system than I have...
One reason I choose A5 was exactly the highs.
The YG sounded somehow boring compared to A5 which gave a lively, energetic presentation and have that "bite" I was looking for.
One may argue that the highs of Hailey 2.2 is more refined and maybe a little more extended though.
I am sure they are special as I have come across people who like them a lot.
Being a relatively young brand, do you think they are here to stay or will be considered passe in due time which seems to be the case with Raidho?
Hello Ron,
Both were at close price brackets, YG Hailey 2.2 being used whereas Magico A5 brand new.
So my choice would be same even if they were offered free and brand new (neglecting the "earning" from having a higher priced item for free, that is YG and focusing purely on musical...
During a 3 day side by side home audition, I prefered the Magico A5 to Hailey 2.2. Both were driven by Constellation Centaur 500 monos.
Source is DCS Bartok
Magico A5 had a more lively sound, more bite, more drama, better bottom end and to my 50 year old ears, more detail and better...
