Haha! Yes, let all the "Audio Yentas" figure out the crony conspiracy that runs rampant on WBF-everyone knows the reputation here. TD is a great product, I've spent alot of time with it at home in my system as a consumer. Not a dealer/distributor/reviewer shill... Probably one of THE best DACs...
I agree it is tighter and I need to let my ear adjust. I don't have a huge room and my speakers are line transmission so I can feel the impact of bass changes pretty easily. As I run it through more music I should get a better idea of how I feel about it. 90% of my listening is blues, jazz...
What irritated you about it? His promoting of the in line filter? I agree power is a very important part of the chain, I've paid alot of attention to it and used power products I trust and that actually made an audible difference in my system. If my listening room weren't on the opposite end of...
Rationalize much? How charitable of you to come to the defense of that comment though..Mine was a response to the "slanderous" personal attack on PQ and the nobility of what PQ has done. Say what you want about the tech, who cares. What he's contributed to the industry and ultimately our hobby...
Ridiculous comment...Who's designs are they? If you are referring to Kondo, you need to do your homework before you spout off on a forum with information some other dumb audiophile told you second-hand. They were partners, and separated the business, enough said....You really need to back up...
very helpful thank you. Were yours all the kit dacs though? AN doesn't make a DAC5 Special or Signature, at least currently anyway, ANK does however..I have a Helene coming to me next week and originally had an order in for the DAC3.1 Balanced from AN. Never did like the price I was paying but I...
100% on Audio Note...Forget vinyl sounding...They are simply musical DACs and at the end of the day it's all about the music, not "imaging" or whatever-other fancy words we can come up with for sound. What we do as audiophiles should not be about the "sound" but rather about the music and Audio...
Thank you Stavros...DAC will be feeding a Audio Research preamp...I will go single ended and then XLR to the AMP. That should get the most out of it. Thank you for your reply very helpful.
I don't know but I read the review where it basically breaks that down and says AC designs for single ended and not XLR..I think the ground is floating with the XLR connection, so it's a two pin design. Makes sense what you are saying and hearing is my point.
Taking delivery on a Helene in the next few weeks, feedback here has been helpful. Be interested to hear what sources folks are running to their Helene DACs.
Does anyone here have any insight into his newer DAC with the 1865 chip? I am close to ordering an AN 3.1 balanced but these DACs caught my attention. Parts look incredible, just very unclear on how the Dacs line up in terms of sound/price etc.
Yes agreed the toroid is different (likely a potted Toroidy). My main interest is two-fold..1) to get the AES connection and 2) to get audible sonic improvement over the Pulse Mini with the LPSU. I really wouldn't be able to answer the question on #2 unless I listen, but based on tests with my...
If you lift the lid on the Power Supply in the Pulse and the LPSU from Innuos (which I own) there is very little if ANY difference between them. I also lifted the lid on the Pulse Mini and compared it to the board in the Pulse and there is literally zero difference I can see, other than the AES...
I've listened to Audio Note in my system, and owned MSB for a few years in my second system..MSB was great for a pure digital dac, I wouldn't have owned it for that long if I didn't enjoy it. Comparing it to Audio Note is like comparing a cat and a dog for a pet..I'd definitely characterize the...
Occasionally I ask myself should I have sprung for the Ref6, but honestly don't think I need anymore than this preamp. They really are World class, it completely lifted my entire system, felt like I got a new DAC.
Just got an LS28SE preamp, and I can whole-heartedly say that 25+ years in this hobby it's the best preamp I've owned, or heard. I am optimistic that ARC will succeed and they have the right products, and people at the helm now. And although they did just have an untimely price increase that...
Thank you for the feedback...Did you happen to move up the line or did you jump in at the Sublime level? I am trying to decide where the sweetspot is. I think it's the Unity but I don't mind the idea of the tubes either.
Have you guys also found the feet are a worthwhile addition?
For you Totaldac vets...I am evaluating dacs for my set up and have narrowed it down to the TotalDac, and Audionote, Aqua La Scala or Formula. My main criteria is a dac that is musical, I don't care about modern sounding dac or DSD. Totaldac seems like a good candidate. Are you guys happy with...
Anyone here using an Audio Note DAC? Curious to know your thoughts and if you have experience over time with them which one is the best place to jump into the line. Looking for a less digital sounding dac to add to my system and it's tricky to figure out the Audio Note line, where to jump in and...
