Vincent, I agree that ripping everything to your PC would mean that you would need only 1 input to the DAC - and you get PC-based processing etc. I'm not familiar with processing at the Nadac.
Kal, thanks for mentioning the Okto. I looked into that unit previously based on your earlier...
Hey Vincent. I like the direction you are going with the integrated amps - you get volume control that I assume can be done with just one remote.
I looked at the Merging Nadac as well, but for me it wasn't a good option because I'm looking for multichannel inputs into a DAC from 2 different...
Has anyone replaced their HT receiver/processor with 3 or 4 DACs for 5.1/7.1?
I have an Anthem pre/pro, which is OK but doesn't sound as good as my 2-channel DAC. I'd like to take out the Anthem altogether and run digital signals for 5.1 sound directly from my Oppo 203 player into 3 DACs for...
castleist.com has listings too. Amazingly low prices on some, I'm guessing because there is no working plumbing, HVAC, etc., might still have the plague from the 14th c. in the loo pit ;)
Do the Playback Designs MPS-5 and MPD-5 support native 4x DSD when using the USB-XIII interface? On the PD web site, they say the 5-series supports only 2x DSD. But the USB-XIII manual is unclear but seams to suggest it can be used with the 5-series to play [native?] 4x DSD on the 5-series...
I only quickly looked at their web site so I might be waaaay off on this, but it sounds similar to what Nordost and others are doing with injecting signals into the power line.
Fair enough :) I did a little digging into Roon. Both Roon and JRiver have various set up options. Both can do bit perfect if set up that way. So if bit perfect is not selected, this could make a difference for both products. Even if bit perfect is selected, other set up options such as...
This is curious. JRiver has bit perfect ripping and bit perfect playback regardless of the file type, bit depth, or bit rate. So does Roon dither or something to make it sound "better"?
Looking to buy an excellent condition Playback Designs USB-XIII box with all that comes with it. Price TBD based on seller's offer and negotiation. Thanks.
Happy to throw in my USB-X for free as part of the price, so you Playback Designs owners that sell the USB-XIII will still have a USB-X...
I am adding in-wall/in-celing speakers to my kitchen, dining room, etc. They'll be high end and powered by good electronics, so I'm looking for good in-wall cables that won't diminish the sound. Any recommendations? Thanks!
I am not familiar with the Equi-Tech units. Regarding the Torus units, I believe the transformers are the same for the wall mount vs standalone units. For the 90A units, the weights are similar 233 lbs vs. 200 lbs which makes sense because of the extra breakers, case work, etc.
I respectfully disagree, but I would be curious to hear other people's takes on this.
I am currently considering a 90A Torus wall mount unit versus the same 90A Torus standalone unit (Torus AVR 90, which has a 90 amp balanced input unit). So headroom is the same either way. The stand alone...
For those of you with Torus units, do you hear ANY hum from the unit? Particularly for the stand-alone units that can be placed on an equipment rack?
Thanks.
I attended AXPONA 2017 in Chicago yesterday. There were some good-sounding rooms, some not so good. To me, the MBL room was one of the rooms that particularly stood out. When I entered, the room was packed and it was one of the large conference room.
At AXPONA, people tend to come and go...
This looks cool. But for the price of 2 of these, I wonder if a Stromtank would give more bang for the buck since it disconnects from the wall power entirely when on battery.
I apologize if someone already addressed this up in the thread.
Do you happen to know what kind of wall boxes your electricians are using with these receptacles? These receptacles are extra deep AND extra wide. I have some GTX-D R receptacles and they don't fit in my "old fashioned" duplex...
Yes and Yes. The card is made by PBD for use with the Oppo 103. Uses PBD's PLink encryption to keep the DSD digital signal in its native form and encrypted between the Oppo and PBD.
My dealer said the opbox will work with the "old" PBD units. Works only with the Oppo 103, not 105. Maybe 105 in the future. New PBD x-box coming out this summer that does DSD 256.
