    Yes of course, one can't intelligently discuss the sound of a component without hearing it. However I'm not sure how this excludes passing on some listening impressions of the M9 - assuming you've heard it(?). No matter, I guess I'll read about it eventually.;)

    That would predicate that nearly all reviews and listener impressions are useless. Of course there is absolutely no substitute for personal auditioning - preferably in the room where the speakers will ultimately be installed (somewhat unlikely in this case) - but people usually start somewhere...

    Peter, from what I've read the high frequency demeanour of the ATC speakers changed with the introduction of their own tweeter around 2013. All their drivers are now made in-house. I've never heard the older speakers with the outsourced tweeters so can't really comment. I sit in a 2.5m triangle...

    I'm curious what vintage ATC's you are referring to? I've often heard that ATC have an "in your face" unforgiving sound, so never really considered them. When I actually heard the little SCM19's mk2 I was quite surprised how naturally uncoloured and enjoyable the speakers were - not fatiguing at...
