    Experience with Mola Mola Lupe

Great post! Some serious parallels with my history. I have the Perspectives as well. In my bigger rig I use the Ypsilon phono. I recently owned the Phaeton. I loved my Tambaqui. And I do get more ”big” from my Ypsilon + Wilsons + stereo subs. Much more “big.” But now I’m awfully curious...

    UHQR Aja

Mine arrived yesterday. My reference was a Tom Port OG. To my ears, the UHQR beats it by a few whiskers. The OG definitely holds its own and puts up a good fight. But the UHQR in my room is bigger, heftier, richer, and tidier at the top end.

    SUT Shootout

The MSL 1030 works very nicely with the Plat Sig. That’s what I strongly preferred over my Ypsilon SUT. Also, Sound Tradition MC 907 is a great match for that cart.

    Koetsu

This has been such a fun thread to read. Thanks all, for that. Partially inspired by the comments above, partially inspired by Sugano San, Jr.’s passing, and partially inspired by curiosity … I’ve gone down the Koetsu rabbit hole. I’ve owned a Blue Lace for many years, but it spent more time...

step up what a beautiful passion

Yeah, those are nice. I own one. I was referring to their phonostage, though. Also, if you run a Lyra Lambda model cart, consider the Lyra Erodion EVO, newly available in the US. It's excellent with Lambda Lyras. (No affiliation)

step up what a beautiful passion

Nagra classic phono has one MM and one MC, but you can have the MC reconfigured to MM, for a total of two MMs. That said, I've had better luck with the SUT that is already onboard with the Nagra. (Similar story with CS Port). Frankly, eliminating the cabling between SUT and p-stage is not a...

Looking for the perfect Integrated Amp

I had one on loan for a few months. Boy was that a fun amp. Punchy, engaging, really satisfying sound. I’ve heard a lot of integrateds in my same room; that 866 is definitely a killer. And the DAC held its own with a Bartok. That surprised me.

    Murasakino Sumile Mono Cartridge

I’ve been following this and other threads discussing mono carts. As deep in the rabbit hole of this hobby as I often think I am, I never owned one. I can’t even recall hearing one. I believed the hype, but assumed it was exaggerated. Well, I’m on Day 3 of a new EMT mono, and it’s blowing my...

Can I get close to Koetsu Blue Lace with a less expensive Koetsu?

I also have a Blue Lace, and I also wonder the same thing. But I haven’t tried any other Ks. I suspect what most would say is that (1) you should notice appreciable differences as you go from wood body, to urushi coated bodies, to stone bodies, and (2) within each of those categories, the...

What's the best way to discover new music?

Radio Paradise is available on Roon. Gives me almost all my new music. Love it.

Audio Research Ref3 SE Phono comparisons

I may have preferred my REF 3 to the 3SE. I suppose one could say that removing that subtle lower midrange / upper bass bump improved the accuracy of the presentation, but I think maybe I liked it better before they removed that.

    Graham Phantom owners.....surprised no answer...???

Call Jeff Fox at Command AV in Virginia. Great guy; knows the Graham arms; and happens to be the NA distributor for J Sikora 'tables.

    Supersense Mastercut Edition Lacquers

Mine arrived today. They are outstanding. No buts, ifs, or howevers. Just superb sounding. Insanely quiet. Clarity galore. Strong and textured bass. Balanced tone. All the boxes checked …

    Mobile Fidelity UD1S Thriller

I have the OG (the real OG before MJ was added to the engineering credits) and the One Step. The highs on the One Step are far too pronounced. So much tizz. The OG also has some of that '80s splash, but the One Step is swimming in splash. And, like many MoFis, it just has this sound that...

Audio Research Ref3 SE Phono comparisons

I never have. The only thought I left out: it’s been a few years, but I also rank the Manley Chinook amongst my faves. Bang for buck it’s easily No 1 in my book. Upscale Audio might sell it with a 30 day return policy.

Audio Research Ref3 SE Phono comparisons

In the last few years I’ve enjoyed the REF 3, REF 3SE (about 2000 hours), the Ypsilon VPS 100 (about 500 hours), the Boulder 2008 (maybe 250 hours), the D’Ag Momentum Phono (maybe 40 hours), and the Nagra Classic Phono (about 50 hours). That’s with multiple carts of very different sounds, and...

What are members recommendations on current turntables in the $15K to $22K price range?

I’m guessing their names were Jacob and Michael. (Fun fact: I bought the Lyra Lambda Atlas SL that Jacob used when he reviewed the J Sikora Standard Max).

What are members recommendations on current turntables in the $15K to $22K price range?

I recently (as in, 20 hours ago in cartridge time) swapped out my old 'table, with a REF 3SE and Etna Lambda. The new guy is the J Sikora Standard Max with the JS tonearm. I'm seriously loving it. I always thought the Etna Lambda paired really well with the 3SE, but the JS 'table adds several...

Got my Rossini back today, with the Apex upgrade. 100% agree with everyone’s descriptions above. I’m very impressed.

    SUT for Ypsilon VPS-100

Did you get any more intel or buy the Yip? I own one and use the My Sonic Labs 1030 SUT with my Atlas Lambda SL, and I far prefer the 1030 to the Yip SUT. But SUTs are cartridge-specific and the 1030 is designed for carts with low impedance.

Audio Research Ref3 SE Phono comparisons

Well, I just did this. REF 3SE to Ypsilon (Also owned an XP27). I’m using the MSL 1030 SUT with an Atlas Lambda SL, but also own the Ypsilon MC20, and the Lyra Erodion for other carts. Feel free to PM me.
