Things I do not like about the HDMI upgrade.

While there seems to be no doubt that the HDMI upgrade is a great bargain. There are a few things I do not like: 1. Being a purist, more or less, I do not like going from the separate power supplies, three, to the one large power supply. I am sure that there just was not enough room to do new...

Theta Gen VIII series II vs series I

With the HDMI upgrade and higher resolution digital, interest in the Gen VIII has taken new life. How has experience with both version of the dac. Also, how does this dac compare with newer dacs like the PS Audio model? If comparing dacs be sure to mention which series you own.

I realize there is still a lot of discontent with Theta from previous owners. Here is a thread to express that discontent without conflicting with the discussion of the new upgrade. I still have some reservations about new product development at Theta.

    McIntosh MC501s

I believe this is one of the most heralded amps the company has produced. No Mcintosh forum is complete with a discussion of these amps. I have owned mine for about 4 years now. Still happy with them. I have not found anything around the price point that is better.

List your Theta gear and system, room, etc.

This thread is not about who has the most expensive stuff. This site is about what's best. There are lots of good deals on amps and speakers out there. I shop the "used" market myself and am fond of some now discontinued brands like Aragon and California Audio Labs. So what are you using.Theta...

Theta Six Shooter vs high-end two channel pre-amps and multi-channel models

The Six Shooter has proven superior,IMO to the Mcintosh C2200, Audio Research LS25MKII, Audible Illusions Modulus 3MA, and all the internal bypasses of every surround processors that I have tried. What's your experience? Would love to hear about pre-amps that beat it as well as those they have...

    Theta Dreadnaught II vs?

Do you own this amp? What other amps have you owned? At some point the newer version with Thermatrack transistors will be on the market. The contention is that the newer transistors will improve sound. I know that they allow for more effective bias tracking. However, I do not have any experience...

    Mcintosh XR200

I purchased these speakers a few months back. They are lovely. Excellent imaging with the lateral imaging being much better than average. They also have sort of a dual personality. The mid-range is beautiful and extremely transparent and works well with tubes at low levels. However, they are...
