    David Karmeli’s Bionor/Lamm/AS-2000 Audio System

I do have to say compared to the Western Electric systems I have heard, the cupped hands effect is not as great on the Bionor YT videos or the Eurodyne I heard in person but still far from what I would call natural. Those WE systems always sound grossly colored with the sheer amount of...

    David Karmeli’s Bionor/Lamm/AS-2000 Audio System

I don't think any number of Quads will be able to play orchestral music convincingly? (question mark since I can't say since I've never heard anything other than a single pair). Or even solo keyboard music experienced from the first ten rows. One of my favorite solo keyboard concerts was hearing...

    David Karmeli’s Bionor/Lamm/AS-2000 Audio System

What stands out to me in this video (and others on Youtube), just like the Klangfilm Eurodyne I heard at a Lenco Heaven member's system is the cupped hands effect being quite obvious to me. Every recording having a "presence" like resonance or reverb added to it as another way of saying cupped...

    Hideaki Nishikawa-san's favorite LPs

That is it, thank you! I was looking for it in "About Us" and didn't check "News." I am the same hvbias from the classical SACD thread we are both posting in on the other forum :D

    Hideaki Nishikawa-san's favorite LPs

Very sad to hear about Nishikawa-san's passing. Techdas' website used to have a video hosted by Vimeo where he talks about his favorite LPs. I can't find it on their website or Vimeo. Does anyone know if this can still be viewed somewhere? Thanks.

    Roon absolutely sucks for classical

I am curious what other primarily classical listeners now think of Roon? I am thinking about giving them another trial. Like Keith I have roughly 5000 classical albums.

Do Mobile Fidelity Vinyl Re-issues Have a Digital Step in the Process?

Fair enough Ron, I didn't know of that thread. I've deleted my post.

Do Mobile Fidelity Vinyl Re-issues Have a Digital Step in the Process?

Yes I understand that, I was meaning that it's now going to get wider view potentially from people that bought other Mofi LPs (they used to be $30) that haven't heard of this fiasco yet; wider attention increases the chances of someone taking some form of action. We're in the middle of looking...

Do Mobile Fidelity Vinyl Re-issues Have a Digital Step in the Process?

This is from another forum: If Washington Post runs with this at this point I think seriously considering litigation should not be off the table.

Do Mobile Fidelity Vinyl Re-issues Have a Digital Step in the Process?

Yes the vinyl formulation is different on the One Steps. Mofi call it "super vinyl." Marvin Gaye What's Going On had a very low noise floor, but I sold it because the mastering was "hifi" hyped up type of sound. Charles Mingus Mingus Ah Um my first copy was noisy and had scratches, second copy...

Do Mobile Fidelity Vinyl Re-issues Have a Digital Step in the Process?

I am interested to hear if anyone emails them requesting a return/refund on any LPs they have bought from them. My gut feeling is they will not accept returns outside of whatever their normal return window is.

Do Mobile Fidelity Vinyl Re-issues Have a Digital Step in the Process?

Without question it is deceit. Their engineers might try and spin this as "it allows us to make more accurate LPs," if that was the case why not tell us about that when you started doing it?

What are you currently listening to (Classical)?

I've had Beethoven's String Quartet's in my heavy rotation, the latest cycle that has me pretty damn impressed is from Prazak Quartet. I ranked all my favorite cycles here: https://www.good-music-guide.com/community/index.php/topic,2166.msg1452674.html#msg1452674

Do Mobile Fidelity Vinyl Re-issues Have a Digital Step in the Process?

I believe this gentleman is talking about Jim Davis in this video, the clue for me being he said the executive he spoke to hated Michael Fremer. It looks like they are going to hire someone for social media/online PR/marketing to address this.

Live music, Tone and Presence: What most systems get wrong

I think one major issue that isn't as much down to the systems are the recordings themselves. I am so happy that I'm able to see classical music again. A couple of weeks ago it was Gautier Capucon and Jean-Yves Thibaudet. I fully expected one of my favorite 20th century pieces (Debussy's Cello...

Lloyd Walker of Walker Audio has Passed Away...

Very, very sad to hear this news. If anyone has any video/audio of him would you mind uploading it to Youtube? I think it would be nice to have this, he was very knowledgable about TT design the one time I was able to speak to him in real life.

    TechDAS Airforce V arrived :-)

I'd opt for the much simpler answer, VPI don't know how to engineer a good vacuum hold down system. The company has always struck me as a DIY type company, their turntables are very basic.

    TechDAS Airforce V arrived :-)

I agree with this. For instance I have never heard any turntable have the sheer close to "nothing-ness" of noise floor like AF1 and Basis Inspiration, approaching that of a Studer A80, which makes me think that vacuum hold down done properly is what I would consider a must have on an end game...

Zero Distortion: Leif's System with TAD 4003 based dual FLH

How does the system sound playing small scale solo instrument recordings; for instance Nathan Milstein playing JS Bach's Partitas and Sonatas, or similar type of solo violin pieces? Does the violin sound like it is 20 feet large or does it sound like an appropriate scale given accurately...

    Magico Ultimate 3

I sort of doubt we are referring to the Gamma installation and the reason I say that is the AF1p did not exist at that time either, the regular AF1 did exist then. I can not recall if Fremer's comments were in regard to setting up a turntable for someone, this was just too long ago. All that...

Mingus Ah Um - MoFi Ultradisc One-Step

Just a warning that if you have these in your "to listen to" pile to crack them open and check for defects, mine came with numerous scratches on all four sides. I'm sure Mofi will take care of me since I bought it directly from them, but figured I would mention it. From the clean parts I have...

On this discussion of DSP, on an Analog Planet article Michael Fremer said the greatest sound he has ever heard from a stereo was a massive custom horn speaker setup using DSP in I believe Greece. Not saying this to hold MF's hearing above others, just that it was rather telling from the most...

There are pictures with Alon with the Ultimate and FirstWatt amps as well. These should also be extremely quiet. The ALE compression drivers on the cheap end are about $40k when paying for them in JPY. I have to imagine profit margin on the Ultimate was significantly less than the M9.
