Well, they do it still.. in a couple of years it will be replaced with a new one so why advertise something you know is not true?
Anyhow, they have great products just sell them as they are instead of half-truths.
Yes, the reference DAC is my top choice. I have the analog DAC now and love it, when I called MSB to ask if I can add 8xDSD to the analog DAC they said no and that I need to buy a new DAC, funny how they are all about future-proofing and modular design and still ask you to buy a new DAC every...
Thanks for the info, very interesting.
Since I don't need a CD player and all my disks are files now I can play them using USB. Why not go for the Vivaldi DAC instead of the Rossini? isn't it a step up from the Rossini DAC?
quick update:
got an email from Krell today:
Dear XXX,
We apologize for not being able to respond to your communications until today. For the most part, large Krell amplifiers such as these need to be returned to our facility in Connecticut for repair.
We have only one field...
Thanks, I finally got an email back from Krell, they say to send it to George Meyer in L.A, they are the only service center in the west cost.
I have no tech skills so i think i better off send it over there. i just hope the fix is not too expensive.
Yep, that was the first thing i did.
i emailed - no response.
i called - waiting for someone to call me back (it has been 4 days now.)
i emailed again this morning, i will call again tomorrow, but based on this i am a little nervous giving them the unit i might not see it again.
I have my Krell 402e for over 2 years now, few days ago it shut itself off and the red light blinks two times.
The manual say 'Excessive DC at Output Contact your Dealer'.:mad:
Does anybody know who can fix a Krell amp in SF bay area?
The Alexx has the ability to move the port to either the front or rear of the bass enclosure.
Which means you can put it closer to the back wall (if you must) and use the front port configuration.
Did anybody see this on Wilson's site?
Nominal Impedance 4 ohms / minimum 1.5 ohms @ 2850 Hz
If this is true this is very bad . . . is there an amp in existence that can actually drive them?
To get the most out of them you need power and more important the amp has to be able to drive 2oms, not many can.
Try to audition it in your room and decide.
This is one of my favorite classical pieces of all time, and i own this album for some time.
I am looking for a new performance and/or a better recording, does anyone have any recommendation?
Yes, i do. this is why i added the "also" in my comment.
As i see it, if one format is superior to another then converting from the inferior format to the superior should result in the same SQ, consistently, all the time.
And it is easy to test.
You can easily compare yourself, if you play FLAC and DSD on your DAC from the files in the link below and can't hear a difference you can assume your DAC is converting DSD to PCM, i can clearly hear the difference and I love DSD, DXD also sounds amazing in my DAC i wish we can get more of it...
Take the amp with you and try it first before you buy, most likely you will burn it in the first 5 minutes.
IMO, you should wait until you have money for a decent amp, at the meantime the price of the 5.1 will go down.
