    Magico Ultimate 3

the 10 channels are output of the same clock... I need them as I will run 5 DACs in parallel. Am I confident it will work as well as I think? I don't know, but I want to give it a try (the real question is on the crossover not on the clock: can I make a FIR filter sounding better than a...

    Magico Ultimate 3

Sorry, I have not visited this forum for the past 2mths, had other things than audio keeping me busy. To answer your question: the project is still completely live: - room is built - speakers are built, ready to be shipped in Magico - custom made server/ multi channel digital crossover is...

very nice website, huge improvement vs. the old one. Probably the best in the industry

    Magico changes tonality (again)...

Yes. When the tweeter is very present, we often interpret it as analytical. The Mproject is very disturbing, because you cannot "hear the tweeter".... in reality it is all there, with all the detailed information you can imagine (I heard things on well known recordings that I never heard on my...

    Magico changes tonality (again)...

me too... only problem is it would be very expensive to build!

    Magico changes tonality (again)...

no... it is much closer to the Q in the midrange and highs (actually even more transparent, with the exception of Q7 mk2), but what makes a lot of difference is that the tweeter is the lowest distortion tweeter on the planet. Which means that any typical tweeter brightness has disappeared. I...

    Magico changes tonality (again)...

Madfloyd, I am glad to hear this happy ending! Having listened extensively to the Mpro, I was always wondering what could be wrong in your set up for you not to be 200% satisfied!

    Magico S7 on the website

find it weird to see a vivid distributor posting why vivid speakers are much better than Magico or Wilson. Not sure this brings anything to the discussion!

Would S3's or S5's be best in my room

At least in a very large room, the Qsub18 gives a better sense of space. You listen to symphonic music, the soundstage is huge. And on bass lines of jazz CDs, it is a physical experience as your full body feels the impact.... It may be the same with 2 Qsub15, but I have only heard a single one...

Would S3's or S5's be best in my room

As I already wrote in the past, I have been always a "subwoofer-skeptical", as I never listened to a perfectly integrated sub before listening to the Qsub. I have 2 Fathom sub, tried to integrate them with Q1, and ended up with the conclusion that Q1 works much better without. my position has...

Would S3's or S5's be best in my room

I would go either for S5 or for S3 and add one Qsub15. I have also 2 Fathom and don't like how they integrate with my Q1. But I have to admit than hearing the Qsub with various Magico speakers, I was very impressed. First time I heard a sub integrating well with a magico speaker.

First Listen: Magico Q7 Mk.II - An Unexpected New Direction for Magico

if your room has some ambient noise, you may like the result. Very low ground floor noise makes a lot of difference, because noise that otherwise would be unnoticed is just annoyingly there. The driver with the highest efficiiency in the Ultimate is 120dB, that means it still needs 30 times less...

First Listen: Magico Q7 Mk.II - An Unexpected New Direction for Magico

Mike, The Avantgarde is less than 100 dB, the Ultimate is 115-120dB sensitivity: at this level of efficiency, any noise is unbearable. There is nearly no speaker on the market with such a high sensitivity. I don't want to imply that the Dartzeel is a noisy amp, it is not more noisy than 99% of...

First Listen: Magico Q7 Mk.II - An Unexpected New Direction for Magico

I have the stereo Dartzeel on my Q1 (I bought it from Mike L). Excellent amp, probably the only component I have owned for more than 5 years (with an upgrade in between)... On the big Magicos like Mpro or Q7Mk2, you would really get the benefit of going for the big Dartzeel mono. If money is not...

First Listen: Magico Q7 Mk.II - An Unexpected New Direction for Magico

the latest big Soulution- best bass I have heard on the M-pro. it is really the strong point of this amp.

    M-Project

I have to admit the guy knows how to write

    Hint of new Magico products

fully agree with you. The tweeter on the M-project has much lower THD, it goes also lower in frequency than previous Magico tweeters. This avoids stretching the medium driver too much in term of frequency coverage, it can focus on where it works the best. As a consequence both mids and highs are...

    Hint of new Magico products

I really think you have a room problem or an electronic problem. What you heard doesn't reconcile at all with what I heard in 2 different rooms. If you compare S5 and M-project, difference is obvious: - more bass on M-project. Very solid bass foundation, huge imaging on orchestral music (to my...

    Hint of new Magico products

don't use these charts to judge bass extension. Magico's room had a problem of bass suck out, and untreated room mode. They have now added additional treatment to improve this (as you can see on the Q7 mk2 pic). These curves were probably made before that

    Hint of new Magico products

I think Magico listening room is the largest among speaker's manufacturer. Very well designed, nice acoustics and very low background noise (20dB). Probably the best manufacturer room I have seen with the Marten one in Europe.

    Hint of new Magico products

not sure I understand your post. I never talked about CES 2015 for the simple reason I didn't attend. I just commented on my experience at Munich show 2 years ago, to illustrate how Valin is making judgement on speakers. You can check in archives how he commented on the show

    Hint of new Magico products

honestly, who cares what Valin thinks and writes... he probably needs an ear aid to hear the highs of the tweeter anyway... I was in Munich in Magico showroom when Valin came and listened to the Q7. He sat for 2min on the very back, completely in the side corner. Worst place to judge any...

    Magico Q7

I have heard both but not on same day. Overall, my impressions are: - tweeter: Mpro and Q7mk2 are at the same level. Both better than Q7mk1, not by a small margin - medium: slight advantage for the Q7mk2 (see reason below, different construction of cabinet and different XO may also play a role?)...

    Magico Q7

I think it will be a great combo. HK dealer of Magico has the Q7 Mk1 with Qsub18. Quite shocking to see how much extra "room" the Qsub18 could add to the music. They were crossing over very low, something like 30Hz if I remember well.

My Ultimate have been ready to ship Since December. My custom designed electronics are late. Magico Q7

I heard both q7mk2 and Mproject. I talked with Alon about the design of the Q7mk2. He confirmed it is the same driver, with same membrane, but with different efficiency.
