Gosh Lloyd..
must’ve been at least fifteen years since we first chat (online)? I recall we both had Strads at some point, you went Wilson whie I trodded the Magico route for a while.
If only the 3060, Mephisto Solo or Heisenberg had gain adjustability, I would’ve probably jumped on anyone of...
@zbub,
Am still driving old Tidal Contriva TT fronted by equally ancient Accuphase digital.. No longer interested (nor have the time and funds ;p) in chasing the em go-around sota, goal now is simplifying to less box/cabling compact system wherever possible and just enjoy more music.. Well, ok...
After in hiatus for last 6-7yrs, this covid thing brought that darn itch back in me. To cut story short, after amp searching for past 6 months or so, decided to stay with FMA..
Amongst others in/around the price range considered were Mephisto Solo, Boulder 3060, Pilium Hercules, Audionet...
Same here, from brief stints whilst on business trip overseas of them, Audionet~at dealer, and Pilium~friend’s system (though not enough time to form firm opinion)—were I to start over, these will be the two brands I’d look at closely.
My dealer will be bringing in the Stern/Heisenberg combo...
Congrats!
Heard great things about Pilium from my dealer. He’ll be importing Alexander/Hercules, as well the AudioNet Stern/Heisenberg combo. Hope he’ll offer a listen prior delivery to customers.
I thought it’ll be around $550/stage, priced around the Hotdog ones said above.. Not bad.
Quite shocked when local dealer quoted me $14,520 for this 3-tiers new Korean HifiStay ‘Mythology’ rack.
Not tried/heard yet, but for the dollars rather not we bet on track proven older kids on the...
Exactly, my experience^
As to downsides, I’d also add to above ‘no loss of dynamics’—with voltage regulated and stabilized, I sense some gain in that area instead.
And best thing is they’re built to last..
Been using/still, their original monstrous PP1200 from late ‘90s, and the only thing ever...
Thanks guys for the infos.. Waiting in anticipation further thoughts once you heard/compared them for a bit.
Though at the price, I'd expect at/near a component upgrade level type of improvements! :p Fingers crossed.
Wow, at the price I'll certainly wait for your impressions first before deciding.
Yeah, me think too that AIM is a bargain for its performance, bought mine around USD350 when Yen was still up there.
If the Vertere ethernet is a really really superb must-have cable, perhaps I can mention your...
Good to know Frank! Yeah the difference is real and of magnitude especially with the level of gears you are running.
Been trying to share my initial excitement/findings in my first post of this thread some 1,5yrs ago.. What took you so long?? :p
Enjoy! Cheers..
Hi CKKeung, I just got back from a trip so not yet in touch with the dealer.
Also, since you have the AIM NA3 and possibly access to Vertere ethernet cable please do share your finding first when you get hold of one, if you don't mind.
The pros and cons against AIM and AQ Diamond RJE/how they...
I currently have two using as HS-link for proprietary digital connection ~ AQ Diamond RJE, and AIM Shieldio which I prefer ~ more organic sounding with better texture and tonal density. If Vertere makes one, I'd be interested to buy/try one from your dealer, as none in my Country as yet. Thanks.
+1
Thanks for sharing your experience Tubedoctor and Audioblazer.
Yeah, almost always afraid to post here wary of the skepticism/sarcasm around. Heated debates are exhaustive and just waste of time, imo. ;)
Happy listening!
Somewhat agree here.. Whereby it was not actually an apple to apple comparison per se.
Given their system approach methodology, I think competing brands should also be at least used in full loom from end-to-end (in order to get their full measure), assisted with some kind noise of...
Great stuff!
I'm certain with your quality gears there'll be discernible difference if you further move up the line. Perhaps you might want to try sans the copper plate now.
My thinking is simply why pay so much for top wires only to have something meddling/adding their signature to it. But I...
pelo911, if recalled correctly I have seen pics of your system elsewhere.
If it is still same, problem mainly lies with your room and set-up positioning, imo.
No matter which speakers you ended up with, it will be a waste of money until you have the former addressed first.
Do post latest pics so...
It is much neater under the hood of 611X, whereas kinda messy and a little cramped inside old (1993) 611.
Hence, its one drawback against X version is lower heat tolerance, causing shutdowns when overdriven--continuously.
Contacts cleaning and check (2012) - FMA 611
+1 great pic!
I too tested Soulution 710+721 (KS Elation) years back.. Found them to be a tad cool and mechanical sounding in comparison to FM611+266mkII (FMA Cabling). Agree that FMA+Soulution combo could compliment each other quite nicely. Found that FMA strength lies more on their pre--ended...
Good luck!
Perhaps you already knew, a member on another forum is using TA Opus jumpers with Reference MM SC on Q7 and love 'em. Let us know.. Cheers!
*Tube pre + Gryphon amp too! ;)
A cousin just got his today! No wait, no queue, no fumes, just some good old connections. :p
Initially he wanted the 6S but size unfriendly to be pocketed, so 6 for him and 6+ for wife.
5S, 6, 6+
I'd probably go for 6+ myself as screen size will suit my +eyes better.
Let us know how...
Yup, even my old 611 @250w/8ohm, encountered occasional said problem when in party mode. But then it's already a grandpa of an amp at that stage! :p
Would have happily kept my Mini II had they enough air to pressurized the room, and perhaps dug an octave/two lower.
I think it manages nicely the right balance between 'brain and beauty'- neutral enough with just the right touch of musicality.
After running full circle, I could almost see...
