Dear Ron
You are most welcome, I will message you in private regarding the cartridges I have tried with the 5T there have been many some of which have been quite wonderful. I will add for the past few days to great effect with the Jan Allaerts MC2 Formula One most certainly an interesting...
Congratulations Ron on the 5T, recently I have been listening to the 5T again I have found over the years of experimenting it is very capable of real weight it is very sensitive to its mounting platform I have had to had various arm boards machined also to the cables and not to mention the...
Thank you for your responce and kind words, and agree other things are far more important and I am so thankful I have so much more available that gives me greater satisfaction than any bit of Hifi. I agree the forum is a great place to learn from others experiences and I personally have my...
For me it is just a hobby and fun yes I do have to earn a living and have heavily invested in it but when we start hurting others over silly things such as hifi it becomes pointless. I was in hospital for 3 months seeing death head on any miniute anyone can die and thats a simple real fact it...
The LFT LT Arm has been modified over the years during its production, with different wiring all offering different perspectives to its sound, The original version with the ribbon wire has the most bass weight and drive with sheer sence of scale if that is what one is looking for. The arm...
I loved it I am positive this will turn into a very positive fun series I am sure this will also introduce many more to the whats the best community, It certainly takes dedication to anything like this and wish you all success with it. I likes the questiions you asked together with Jims...
From my experience the Koetsu cartridges do not perform so well in the 1200s the the M2-12 r and the Glanz 124s are far more suitable on the other hand the Koetsu Tiger eye and Rhodonite with diamond cantilevers are suited to the 1200s. I have listened to the 124s and 1200s at length and they...
Having played around alot with the 4P 9" and 11" they are very very different and work with very different cartidges and turntables. Generally the 4p 9" is faster sounding with more impact it goes deeper than the 11" just sounds very solid. The 11" has more texture kind od kinder and rounder...
All I will say is vastly more than the standard ones I have quite few one offs. Also I have some of the early bodies upgraded with diamond cantilever and pure platinum coils the Koetsus are my personal cartridges and nothing to do with my business. Not many would be prepared to pay the price...
The rarest Koetsu made the one off Carnelian Stone Diamond Cantilever platinum coil, this is one of the fastest explosive of all the Koetsus with a real sence of timing with very grainless with texture and speed.
The external cable was even more important Kondo was also quite limiting, I had many different wires made up including pure gold and platinum I found using doubling up the positives always worked silver was terrible generally.
As a person who has been playing with these arms for many years the removal of the bridge makes a sizable difference the arm becomes less mechanical sounding and far more nuanced. More importantly is the tonearm cable used with the tonearm this is a far more complex subject to get into here and...
I owned the sonata with HR100S from the age of 12 I remember assisting mike at the Penta Hifi show at that age it was amazing. I ended up owning many Sonatas and modifying many too also owned a few symphony turntables a very rare turntable now. The arms certainly looked very interesting and...
I have been using and playing with air bearing arms from the age of 12 I remember after school mounting a Eminent Technology ET2 on a Alphason Sonata and being blow away even then by what it did in terms just sounding so un mechanical with a natural sense of air and space I went on to build...
The reality most will be rather long in the tooth this is mostly sold in the early 90s, also there were quite a few versions so not really a commercial thing the Dava can actually be purchased today which is wonderful for everyone to enjoy filed coils no doubt involve a rare skill set, Audio...
Its a cartridge sorry its quite well known to any one from that era, the first versions were designed by Kondo San in Japan Audio Note Uk went on to produce it and still do to this very day quite different from the original.
Very different I have Guy Adams personal Voyd reference with the gigantic X 3, 3HP papst motors and with special parts in the power supply its quite a thing with a rebuilt Kondo Japan Io Ltd Field coil cartridge.
I am very fond of both Glanz tonearms they both are very capable, obviously choosing any arm will come down to turntable and cartridge and ones system. Having listened to both on a variety of turntables the 124 premium to my ears has a lack of grain it certainly provides more music it has...
Derek who is the man behind HMF is true a vetren of the uk audio game one of the first to work very closely with Ricardo and highly knowledgable so am truly supprised. Derek was one of the first truly high end dealers back in the day the first to purchase the likes of counterpoint air tangent...
Life with one cartridge would be rather dull and boring I have to agree, you are fortunate not to not have to choose. I always respect any ones choice it would be boring if we all liked the same thing and would just turn into sheep. We listen and learn and decide what suits u,s for me I like...
Congratulations, you will certainly have fun with both of these cartridges. The etsuro cartridges have got even harder to get since April some models are back ordered till September/ October 2023.
Hi Marty its nice to hear from you make a valid point as to most it would seem rather outlandish and maybe even comical, there are literally thousands of dongles made this spans over 25 years many have been aborted, I will pm you privately some time, the permutations have been endless in a...
