I had my classical music epiphany in 1962 when I was was in high school and read about Beethoven's Symphony #6 being used as a means of teaching the blind from birth to understand the beauty of the pastoral countryside. I sought out a LP, (Rafael Kubelik, Royal Philharmonic, $5.99- I still have...

AS Seasoned Audiophiles, What Have You Learned?
My involvement in this hobby started in the early 60's with an interest in recorded music which led to wanting better sound. It has continued unabated ever since. My LP library now exceeds 6,000. A recent upgrade of my phono chain has caused me...

Actually, it's the best car I've ever owned. No "fit and finish" issues in mine. The superb sound system is a bonus.
The stock system in my 2022 Tesla Model S is incredible- the best I have ever heard. And, it has an integrated app for Tidal and Spotify. Made by Tesla.

I am pleased to hear another voice for electrostatic speakers, and that you mention Sound Lab. As a Sound Lab enthusiast (and home based dealer) for over 20 years, I am amazed at how little they are known or acknowledged. I, and other members of the cult, consider them to be the best of all...
I've been using an e-bike for almost all my inner city (San Francisco) transport for 5 years. I can ride almost anywhere in town in 20 minutes- quicker than driving; dedicated bike lanes and free parking are everywhere. The hills of SF are a are a pleasure- I often ride up to Twin Peaks just...
I too was looking for such a device, but couldn't find one and gave up. I wanted to use high end Blue Tooth ear buds , with my system's preamp as the source for late night listening.
There are many other amps in the Pass Lab line that will handle these speakers. The X series which are Class A/B, are considerably less expensive than the XA series. The X-250.5 is well regarded, and can be found used at less than $5K- an example...

Did you ever make your move? If so, what did you get and how pleased are you with the move? Still using Pass Lab amps?
No, and I probably won't. I continue to be pleased with...
Sound Lab electrostatics and Pass Lab amps are a wonderful combination. I have both the XA-60.8 model (pure class A) and the X-260.8 amps (class A/B). I would be happy to have any WBF member visit me ( SF Bay Area) if they are interested in hearing them.

If you haven't already, and before moving away from electrostatics, you should listen to Sound Labs. Pass Lab amps drive them extremely well. For your room size, I recommend the 645 or larger.Ultimate 845
The # of licensed Ham Radio operators has actually increased from a few years ago when it was in decline. One of the reasons the FCC dropped the Morse Code requirement was to encourage younger people who had no interest in learning the code to participate. Yes, there are a lot of old timers who...
I did not mean to imply that I am unaware of nor dismissed the potential health issues, but simply said I have not ever felt the RF, except when some object like a microphone boom has become energized by RF. There are approximately 750,000 licensed Amateur Radio operators in the US and I can't...
Megahertz is a measurement of the RF (radio frequency) that refers to the signal's place in the overall radio spectrum and has nothing to do with it's strength. As a Ham Radio operator (K6ABC) I have a linear amplifier that boosts the power of my RF to a Kilowatt which can result in serious RF...
When it comes to heating a pool, the real question is how big will the fuel bill be? My pool (18x36') is heated nicely by solar from May through October, with daily water temps between 80-85F. But come November, with the sun lower in the sky, shorter and cloudy days, the water temp drops...
Downloading eBooks via my now closed (due to Covid19) local library is the perfect solution to the ongoing SIP edict. Living in the boonies with great books and streamed music is wonderful, and relatively safe.
As was mentioned in a previous post, its not just external vibrations we are concerned about; some components generate vibration, particularly transformers which are found in almost every piece of our gear. Stillpoints are designed to absorb and convert this energy into heat, thus quieting the...
I never said I could not tell the difference between live and recorded. I was addressing the musical enjoyment provided by my system, as well as the ease and convenience factor. I also have to admit, my willingness to purchase $150 seats is limited.
Last week, I attended a magnificent piano...

The Spanish flu pandemic of 1918, the deadliest in history, infected an estimated 500 million people worldwide—about one-third of the planet’s population—and killed an estimated 20 million to 50 million victims, including some 675,000 Americans. The 1918 flu was first observed in...
I continue to be amazed that in discussions like this, where ML speakers continue to be mentioned as the holy grail of electrostatics, there is no mention, let alone acclaim, of Sound Lab Electrostatic speakers. While my opinion will be dismissed as biased, I sincerely believe they offer the...
This topic being completely over my level, I'm wondering if there is a reasonably priced application in my system that would be worthwhile. I'm using a Roon Nucleus+ through a Lumin X-1 with a Synology NAS all connected via a generic network cable (Cat7, 40' length between the Roon and the...
Without a doubt, shorter speaker cables are the better choice. This is done routinely with mono block amplifiers so that they can sit close to the speakers.
