What SPECIFICALLY is better or different about the Wadax Design? How do these design choices manifest in better sound?

In Munich, none of WADAX rooms sounded good. The room with the WB was agreeable on the senses, but the rest were uninspiring, and some, like Göbel and kharma, plain awful.

Congratulations, the best bang for your buck, and one of the best, regardless of price.

Anyone Understand Design Approach of Stenheim? What are they doing differently from Magico, YG, Wilson, etc., to have High Sensitivity?

Most Europeans who take this hobby seriously and therefore visit the Munich show have heard these, several times, with big power. jespera is generous.

Anyone Understand Design Approach of Stenheim? What are they doing differently from Magico, YG, Wilson, etc., to have High Sensitivity?

PHL PA drivers from France (I believe own by devialet). Corrugated paper. Not superior to anything, but cardboard. Some people like that kind of sound.

    CH Precision 10 series

I know, not the M10, but my M1 is pretty wimpy in a bi-amp mode. Why waste all that goodness driving a sub

Magico M9 vs. Magico Ultimate 3 Horn- Box vs. Horn! Which will be better? In which ways?

Maybe, but I don’t think I have seen any independent measurements of any speaker manufacturers so sharply contradicts its marketing slogans.

Magico M9 vs. Magico Ultimate 3 Horn- Box vs. Horn! Which will be better? In which ways?

I think he just did. Perhaps it is Wilson who should provide any technical proof to their imaginary claims.

"Fast" and "slow" subwoofers: can we put them to bed?

I am sure there are differences, but I don’t see how you can interpret anything but frq. and phase on a subwoofer impulse response. For quality (slow, fast, etc.), you probably need to look at distortions, which is tricker to assess (probably need anechoic chamber)

"Fast" and "slow" subwoofers: can we put them to bed?

This may be more of a function of how low/sharp the bass is crossed. One seems to be 70hz with sharp cutoff, the other 100 with more gentle slope (Higher frq, sharper impulse ).

Nothing confusing here, you see the on/off button…? Although they typically do, active XO may or may not have voltage gain. Like I said, “I stand corrected” would suffice ;)

    CH Precision 10 series

Yes, but when you bridg them, you lose their magical mids/highs (I have the M1)
  14. C

    Magico M9

We spent some time trying to clarify that for you. It would have been nice of you to just say, “I stand corrected,” and not blame others for "the confusion"... now we can move on

    Magico M9

Curious, which other “LS manufacturer" caused the confusion?

Did you read Magico description  The part about the “fully balanced and discrete circuit topology”, the “external power supply chassis regenerates AC and applies active regulation to every part of the circuitry”

Magico MXO is indedd active. Form Magico web page: The new Magico Analog Crossover (MXO) was designed in-house from our own platform to manage the crossover frequency between the 15-inch bass and 11-inch mid-bass drivers. At such a low frequency, a passive crossover would require huge...

Man, you manage to confuse me as well, are we going to argue the meaning of an active XO?? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_crossover#Active An active crossover contains active components in its filters, such as transistors and operational amplifiers.[1][2][7] In recent years, the most...

Just think of it as a passive 3-way plus a passive sub, with an active low/high pass XO between the two amps driving them.
  21. C

    Magico M9

That’s not how it works. It’s a 2 -way active setup. The low/high pass are actively crossed. There are no passive parts in front of the bass and the midbass high pass.
  22. C

    Magico M9

All things equal, I believe I am correct (not sure what you mean by the Wilson example).
  23. C

    Magico M9

Correct. Its physics, a small 2-way, efficient, easy to drive speaker will have no bass (unless it is really big). The lower you want it to go, the less efficient, or the bigger it will have to be.

You lost me here, sorry. Your definition of ‘natural or musical’, based on the videos I have heard of yours (and Peter’s set up), is extremely colored. Like I said, there are tradeoffs to consider, and personal preferences.
  25. C

    Magico M9

That is what I meant. A separate, actively XOed, amp for the bass.
  26. C

    Magico M9

Nonsense, like everything else, there are tradeoffs. BTW, the M9s are 94db efficient, with an actively driven bass section. Should be fairly easy to drive.

This might be the problem, what was recorded on the Iphone, should be listened on the Iphone. Also, when listening on YT, compression levels vary constantly, you never know what it is you are hearing. Which can explain the different reactions to the same video.
