Christiaan / HiFi-Advice review is out. A balanced and thorough review, imo, that explores the server, DAC and preamp aspects of the MU2.

Yes, Eelco or someone from Grimm Audio did confirm that it’s 8fs internally. Probably to match the requirement of their Major Dac / 1.5 bit topology.
A big part of the subjective review is in the YT video.
@Verdant Audio
Thank you for your impressions, especially in the context of a top class system.
There is another review of the Helios, which I posted on the Weiss sub-forum.

Finally, first review of the Helios, with a comparison to Medus. Same reviewer previously reviewed the DAC 502 Mk 2 as well. Rest of the system is up to mark too.

Yes, essentially monoblock preamps, presumably into monoblock power amps. This would result in a redundant channel in each monoblock preamp though.
I recall reading somewhere that TAD has used 2 x C600 as monoblock preamps at an audio show prevously.
Weiss has published a white paper on the changes made to the DAC501/502 Mk2 version: https://weiss.ch/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/White-paper-on-the-DAC50x-4ch.pdf
When using in a stereo system, it makes no difference that the Mk 2 version enables 4-channel output. As I understand it, this just...
The speakers look to be (or a variant of) the Ensemble PA1, used with Grimm’s own subwoofers. In some show reports, the rear passive radiator will be visible, as is the silver mid/woofer https://www.stereophile.com/content/pawelensemble-pa-1-amp-reference-loudspeakers
Given the pedigree of your system, that’s saying a lot. Would it he a question of a same brand synergy ?
Do you use the D700 as a SACD / CD player or as a DAC ? Thanks.
Just to clarify, I am using the Melco N1ZH/2EX-H60 as a NAS / server.
I am not using the Melco S100 switch. The are various reports that claim that the Melco S100 and BS-GS2016 are internally similar if not the same (for example, see post #427 here...
The DAC502 is transparent enough to show the differences between LAN cables. I currently use the Sablon Audio Ethernet cable (pre 2020 version) and have compared it directly with the Telegartner MFP8 GOLD IE Ethernet Cable.
The Weiss is fed by a Melco N1ZH/2EX-H60, which is connected to a...

They are responsive and I am sure that Daniel will himself respond or look into this, and roll out a fix via a firmware update.
No one will dispute the performance of the D600 (or the D700) as a CD / SACD player.
What is unusual is the omission of a USB or LAN input in the D700. TAD has already developed its in-house third-generation Asynchronous USB Communication Engine, as implemented in the D1000TX and DA1000TX...
Indeed. Don't understand why. Read somewhere that TAD did not include USB inputs in the D600 due to, ostensibly, USB standards being uncertain at the time that the D600 was introduced. Now that USB inputs are ubiquitous as well as LAN inputs, this could be a missed opportunity.
There are...
Latest, very positive, review from High Fidelity Poland, with the "Gold Fingeprint" - top award - for the Mk2 version.

There appears to be additional damping / tweaks applied to the...
I would say give it at least 100+ hours. Some of the above observations are obvious from the start, esp, bass extension and articulation. The rest develop over time.
I am hoping that the body / denseness to notes will develop into a slightly more warm sound with harmonic complexity.
For the...
I have on hand a DAC502 Mk2 burning in since the last week of September. I don't have a Mk1 for a direct comparison although I have listened using various genres; classical, soundtracks, choral, electronica, vocals, pop and my usual demo playlist.
General impression:
- it's the same Weiss...
Was looking at some of their listings - at bargain prices - until one realises that product descriptions are lifted from other listings (including one copied from a sale ad posted by an audio dealer (that operates a subscription based audio forum) in his very own forum). Apparently, they also...
I have listened to the S-3 V2 with Soulnote electronics (P-3 + A series amps) and Vivid Kaya 90 speakers, and believe that you have quoted from the review by Wojciech in Hi Fidelity Poland (https://www.highfidelity.pl/@main-1060&lang=en).
Based on what I have heard, his description is quite...
Interesting review on the R1-TX from Hi Fidelity Poland:

DAC501 / DAC502 Mk2 version has been launched, with option for 4-channel outputs.

Apparently now with ESS9038 PRO and upgraded analog board.
