i think the main benefit of proper calibration tapes is making proper dubs, or mixing; whether by studios or hobbyists. agree that tones for playback is more hit and miss as many hobbyists are not qualified or equipped to use them.
however; if you have a source you are paying large dollars for...
below is information i thought would be helpful. these calibration tapes are not copies of copies, they are produced in house with the proper instruments and references.

ATR Service introducing our groundbreaking product, where the most challenging aspect lies in...
allow me to dream a little......ideally there would be a stand alone version with a dac, maybe even with an integral server, then a transport only that would be a real world alternative to the 'Level 5' transport which would have an optimized interface for the Ref dac. all sorts of possibilities...
posted this same article a week ago.....here is the thread.

one wonders about whether perfect bass tower integration with your Gryphon's might have changed your Clarisys path? might it have 'filled in' any high frequency issues in your room? i know how it worked for me, when i attained bass integration 'singularity' everything gelled.
there were many...
keep in mind that the chief designer/CEO of CS Port was the chief designer and CEO of a large Japanese corporation specializing in power supplies for industry before he retired to start CS Port in 2014. my guess is he has forgot more about power supplies than any circuit designer in the high end...
agree. and i wonder how many of The Absolute Nothing owners are guys who were gung-ho on pursuing and knowing about other top-level arms and doing their own set-up details prior? i'm saying i wonder about it, not that i expect that i know.
i don't suppose there will be any mechanism to allow sharing the stand alone Server Power Supply with the Transport? i'm expecting that they would be the same for both, but maybe technically that won't be how it is? but it would make acquisition and optimization of the transport much less...
with the CS Port 'damage' is a relative thing.
yes; the platter will settle on the granite plinth surface with a power outage. could be a very slight marring of the surface as the spinning platter settles. but it would have to happen many, many dozens of times to effect the 'true' of either...
agree that 'The Absolute Nothing' gets our juices flowing on many levels. it's fun, fun, fun. a big WOW.
Esoteric provided very detailed renderings of the drive system, which we could all throw around, then Fremer provided factory feedback further describing the thinking and development...
but my 45 pressing did beat it. so i sold the tape. of course; my copy might have been a bad transfer. with tape it can happen. they are hand done.
do you have the now 25 year old Classic 4 disc 45 version?
it's not listed on that YT page, but the link takes you there. so it's 'hidden' and 'private' and not on the open page. not findable by search or accessing the page, you need the link.
looks like for whatever reason i missed that room. give me a room number and i will take another look. i did try to at least poke my head in each room to see whether it was worth listening to. but some rooms had closed doors or were working on something and no music, or it was too loud at that...
agree that is ideal. my CS Port IME1 string drive high mass air float tt has a similar design (not as massive in it's execution for sure) as the AS-2000. i don't have my motor case and plinth on separate structures, but agree that would be ideal.
not seen how this is implemented. maybe i just...
i'm not 'anti' anything.......except....being.....'anti'.
Wilson's can make great music, but are not my highest preference......in my recent experiences. much of that is the accompanying gear i mostly see them paired with at shows. i do really like the Moon electronics more than most common...
interesting. my understanding of David's previous perspective, and the design of the 'Nothing Rack', was that he viewed high mass and solidity as the ultimate structure for the AS-2000. maybe i had an incomplete understanding? or has he evolved in his thinking now that he has isolation?
or am i...
i enjoyed Axpona 2024. i had a great time and i'm glad i went.
@Kingrex
here you go.
it was awesome to see the level of attendance, and feel the positive energy and obvious momentum in our hobby going on right now. i was only at the show from 9:30am-6pm Friday, and 9:30am-4:30pm on Saturday...
congrats to David for achieving (based on your comments) his vision. i'm sure it sounds amazing. it takes quite a single mindedness to reach for the stars. bravo!
me too....saw the pics a few weeks ago. this video did cause me to get slightly more comfortable with it. ask me in a month. have a ways to go but know it might take time. won't ever be able to afford it so no worries.
i think to be fair with something that goes over the top in design, one needs to give yourself time to process it. and also, seeing a turntable that massive in person results in a different vibe. the original has a simple elegance in the photos this one misses to a degree. an all-stainless...
got my UHQR Gaucho 45rpm today, just listened to it all the way through, then my long term vinyl reference, the MCA 1/2 speed 33rpm pressing. i recall back 2 decades this MQA was the best sounding one i could find. likely an original might be better.
i did go back and forth twice between the...
maybe just a 'correction'......the question will be how many other manufacturers will(have) dial(ed) down their efforts too.....
reality cannot be denied. cost and uncertainty are huge obstacles. and we have not even really got to solving the infrastructure challenges. is there political will...
great to read about this. likely there is a paywall involved here. but this article might be distributed widely....sourced from the New York Times.
