Here's what I have done so far that works for me.
A double 20amp breaker to run 240 from the panel into 10 feet of DH Labs Red Wave AC #10 wire for my balanced Torus RM 20 conditioner. The Red wave has a 20 amp Furutech receptacle into the Torus.
The Torus has 2 QV2 and 2 QK1 devices.
There is no...
I just added a new power cord, this time a Crystal Ref.Then added some 12 awg Dueland wire from the speakers which are now Tyler PD15 and put a Shunyata Python CX on the Esoteric.Everything that I liked before is improved .I would suggest that you try out some power cords and see what makes yours...
My Devialet expert pro 250 has developed a mind of it's own.
I have been using different power cords on it,the last was a Shunyata Python Helix CX.
All worked fine, until last night.I shut down the system and when I powered up again, the red light was on but the ON devialet light didn't...
Looking for info from owners regarding room placement of Tyler PD 15.
so far they are--30" from centre to side wall, 46" from the wall behind them, 78" from centre to centre.Slightly towed in and raked back.
Also, anyone found any easy to do mods?
Once at an audio store,I was able to audition various Shunyata power cords.I listened to headphones thru a Cary 300b SEI integrated moving up the line starting at the cheapest entry level shunyata. This experience led me to purchase a trio of Annaconda power cords.
I also have experimented with...
I have an SME 10, SME V arm and Kiseki Blue NOS cart that sit atop a Symposium Segue platform which sits on top the plexi shelf on my Grand Prix Monaco stand which rests on two Symposium Ultra pads that sit on a cork floor over concrete. I hope I don't have to write that again! I have been...
The first power cord upgrade I made was replacing the stock power cords on my Quads with simple #12 Romex solid core.
The sound was fuller, more robust.
When I decided to sell the Quads I was using the DIY power cords.
While he was there I told him that I had the stock power cords so he would...
Back in the old days power from the wall was pretty good.
Then I moved into a new just built modern home in an older subdivision.
I had Quads and Meitner mono amps about 1987.
One summer night the amps shut down so I shipped them off to Ed.
They came back and worked but a short time later they...
You never know what you have until it's gone...or so the saying goes.
In my experience everything sounds great, your ears tell you so.
Nothing sounds bad.
Only when you start to make changes will you know for sure if your power is as good as you think it is.
We can get used to the way our system...
My experience with plug into the wall power conditioners is limited to only the devices I've mentioned.
Both did change the sound of the system that was plugged into them. Both had distinct sonic traits. Some times I preferred one over the other, but could and did live with either. The Furman was...
I've had my RM 20 for a year.I used to have a Furman 20 amp balanced conditioner that would develop transformer noise from time to time. Also have used a Shunyata Hydra 8 . The Furutech and Hydra were powered on 20 amp dedicated lines at different times but using the same lines.
The Torus is...
I recently overhauled my system. There was nothing wrong with it,just wanted change for change sake.
In fact, I didn't even have a plan when I started selling off my Acoustat 4 panels and servo charge tube amps. When I sold the Manley Steelhead I knew I needed something with a decent phono stage...
Some one told me some toroid transformers can hum or be noisy if there is some DC on the AC.I once had a 20 amp Furman. It used to hum at certain times of the day. This was sporadic not continuous. This unit was initially plugged into the wall then on a 20 amp dedicated line, and that helped a lot.I...
I have only 10 hours using 2m of Cardas Clear Reflection.
I like how it sounds(compared to Dueland )on Spendor SP1/2R2.More robust sounding.
Looking forward to what the next 90 hours will bring!
Seriously, I doubt that I will be able to hear any real difference over such a long period of time...
I have the Torus RM 20.It is balanced and requires that you use 240 wiring at the panel.Very simple.Follow the guidelines and rules.
I've had other power conditioners, some were balanced but none that were configured at the panel as this one is.
And none of them let as much music flow out of them.
I've gone the three dedicated line route.
I feel I have better sound now using one dedicated line to run everything but with an added dedicated ground.
I go directly from my panel running 240(two 20 amp breaker at panel- per Torus for balanced power)into a Torus RM20 balanced power...
I have an Esoteric X-03,a bit old.
I have found that the sound improves when you use the ground post on the unit and run it to a dedicated ground and not just rely on the internal ground of the power plug.
There is more clarity.
I don't look for answers as to why this is the case.
It is an...
I noticed that improving a power cord on a turntable back when I replaced the stock one on an old Sota star TT using a better plug and some thicker wire.
Then a better power cord worked on the power supply of a Rega P-9,the current owner is in the camp that feels it doesn't make a...
I was using a Manley Steelhead,now I've got the Devialet 250 Pro.
I'm not using my tube servoamped Acoustat4's either.
I now use Spendor SP1/2R2.
So, it's a different system, but I still use the same LP's and I don't think the digital transformation by the Devialet is doing any harm.
I liked...
Going from one extreme to another.
I just got into the Devialet camp with a D Premier with expert 250 upgrade, no SAM.
I also replaced my speakers and went to Spendor SP1/2R2.
I tried my Dueland wires as speaker wires, and for the jumpers.
Then on a whim I bought some 18 gauge solid core copper...
Went to a Torus RM 20 balanced from a Furman.
Already had #10 Romex from the panel to the room,so I just had to take out the regular 20 amp breaker and wire up the Torus for 240.Very simple, just had to buy a double 20 amp breaker and pop it in the right way.Not hard to do, so don't shy away from...
Been thru many IC over the last forty years. Some were former A rated wires.Never found any of them to be free from colourations. They all changed the sound.I have always been one to seek out more detail from the music, and have purchased gear that strives to meet my goals. If someone can't hear...
The Torus has great surge protection, but a direct lightning strike will wipe out just about everything .Wiring an auxillary ground to the water pipe won't make things any worse.
I worry more about a strike from North Korea.
I still contend that you folks need to take a minute from your busy...
Obviously you folks don't understand how the Torus works. Please look up, the Balanced RM 20.
At no time did I or the good Tech at torus say that the unit was not connected to ground at the panel.
It has to be, it's wired for 240 not the conventional 15 amp type power conditioners you maybe...
Here's what the tech at Torus said--"the ground post on the RM20 Bal is connected to:
-the incoming safety ground wire
-the ground and neutral on every rear panel receptacle on the unit
-the chassis of the unit
-the steel core of the isolation transformer and the electrostatic shields of the...
