Bang & Olufsen BeoSound Premium Sound System

I have a B&O system in my 2018 Audi. However I don’t think it’s the “premium” version. That said, it’s extremely average. Perhaps it can’t compare to what you’re looking at though.

    This is insane...the Quad ESL

Providing the Quads have protection circuitry, not too much power. The length of the room is pushing it unless you don’t mind bringing the speakers way out into the room. Harbeths are very nice (I’ve owned 30.1s and SHL5s) but they really can’t compete with properly functioning Quads in the...

    This is insane...the Quad ESL

The Radford STA25 is a well established partner to Quads. I picked up a new one from Radford Revival, built exactly to spec as the original with some improved parts and materials. https://www.radfordrevival.co.uk/sta-reissue/ I’ve also found success with SS Blue Circle amps as well as an...

    This is insane...the Quad ESL

No I haven't, but I'd love to. How would you describe their differences/similarities?

    This is insane...the Quad ESL

Thank you! Those panels offer both diffusion and absorption. I have more at the first and second reflection points. They made a huge difference with box speakers, less so with the QUADs but they’re still a marked improvement. Those treatments towards the ceiling were to dampen the sound of the...

    This is insane...the Quad ESL

Gilbert Yeung of Blue Circle is a brilliant designer. Only catch is he builds everything himself and has a constant backlog. It can be a solid 6 month wait for an amp.

Bobs SUT to custom Blue Circle (again). I’ve read about Zero hum issues, but I’ve had none. Beautiful cartridge.

    This is insane...the Quad ESL

TD-124/Ortofon RS-212D/SPU Classic. 301/2 Schick arms/Miyajima Zero Infinity/London Reference. Kuzma Stabi M/4 Point/Victor Z1. I know that last one is an odd cartridge choice, but I learned a lot on the MM Audiogon thread!

    This is insane...the Quad ESL

Yes that could be so, which is why I emphasized my small, relatively untreated room. I certainly imagine there’s better, but nothing I’ve tried is.

    This is insane...the Quad ESL

Thank you! I’ve tried a few amps but my favorite have been some custom Blue Circle. Sources: mostly vinyl, Kuzma Stabi M, Thorens TD-124, Garrard 301. For digital I have a Resolution Audio Cantata.

    This is insane...the Quad ESL

Since buying restored 57s from Electrostatic Solutions a year ago I’ve somewhat compulsively looked for speakers that can better them but in my smallish room I haven’t been able to. Maybe it’s my less than perfect basement listening room that the QUADs happen to excel in, or my inability (maybe...

What turntables do you use? Pictures would be nice as well :-)

    Technics brings back the SP10

Ah ok thank you. That’s the info I was looking for.

    Technics brings back the SP10

Yes, for the 2nd and 3rd arm positions only correct? My understanding is that the Technics arm can't be swapped out.
  16. B

    Technics brings back the SP10

Maybe so. I imagine they'll be third party armboards for the main arm location, much like you can find now for the SL-1200.
  17. B

    Technics brings back the SP10

Any thoughts as to why Technics is choosing to not sell the plinth without the arm?

    Technics brings back the SP10

It is a concern. Further I’m sitting on a Schröder CB and Triplanar that aren’t currently in use. I can’t see NOT using at least one of them. I suppose the deciding factor will be the quality of Technics plinth in comparison to whatever aftermarket ones will be available.

    Technics brings back the SP10

Anyone preorder or thinking of ordered either the SP-10r or SL-1000r? I’m very tempted to, and I’d particularly like the SL-1000r but I’m extremely bummed that the main arm can’t be swapped out (or so it seems). Any thoughts on the quality of the Technics arm? I know it’s 10” and supposedly has...

    Kuzma Car Cartridges

I’m a little bothered by the whole thing. In a way I would have preferred Fremer simply leaving it go with negative-ish review. How is it a cartridge he doesn’t like gets a Class A designation? Did anyone else at the magazine listen to it and disagree with Fremer? Or did Franc Kuzma call up...

    Kuzma Car Cartridges

Hi. Anyone have any direct experiences with Kuzma's newish line of cartridges? I'm considering a car40 or car50 for my 4 point and I'm wondering if the large jump in price is worthwhile.

Contenders for Most Musical and Best Two-Way Mini-Monitors of All Time?

Though maybe not technically mini, I'd add the seldom heard in the US JM Reynaud Offrande's. I've owned both older and the latest version, and both possess a rare musicality that I've never heard equaled.

    Who has multiple TTs?`

Thanks! They're Tocaro's. A German brand inspired by Rehdeko's, which were famous for being loathed and loved!

    Who has multiple TTs?`

Me too, great value. No I'm in the US.

    Who has multiple TTs?`

Three tables. Why? No rational reason I suppose, I just like them! All sound great and all sound different. TD-124/Ortofon AS-212S, Merrill-Williams 101.2/Tri-planar, Garrard 301/Schick (awaiting two arm plinth which I'll add a 3012R to).

    Tron Atlantic Power Amplifier.

The Atlantic is a special and beautiful amp. I just received the integrated version a few weeks ago.

What speakers have most horn-like dynamics?

I'll add my speakers to the list of almost horn like jump: Tocaro's. They're without question the quickest and most dynamic non-horn speaker I've ever heard. I absolutely can not compare them to the better horn speakers as my experience is too limited, but for a box speaker they're smokin'...

Idlers vs Direct Drive vs Belt Drive

Well which is it gentleman? Such is the complexity of this hobby I suppose. Let's say I hear clear differences, I can generalize to the way they each do what they do, but without a "scientific" method it's technically just conjecture. Basically I know what the differences are, I simply can't...

Idlers vs Direct Drive vs Belt Drive

My pleasure! My experience is relatively limited compared to many here, so I'm not confident enough to say that the characteristics of my idlers CAN'T be had by the best belt drives, though that indeed could be the case. I also have zero exposure to quality DD's so unfortunately can't comment on...

Contenders for Best Tube Integrated Amp? Only the best elements of tube sound!

I just sprung for one of these, at the price it's probably not THE best but it's damn fine:
