What made the Homerus even better in comparison with the no doubt excellent Ithaka?

Crackle in the left channel of my Gryphon Colosseum

Hi Larry, Depending on your budget, I originally was going to hold out for a great rack, but the costs were too high, and I ended up with a solution that has lasted for some time. What I like to call 'isolation sandwiches'...I put footers underneath each component on our 'regular rack' and put...

Yes, it is fantastic...and if available 2nd hand probably a steal at its price.

Thanks, other than our current system, I also would say: - Rockport Arrakis (not heard Lyra) - AG Trio G3 with dual space horns (but instinctively would keep the Robert Kodas) Both of the above require a LOT more room and/or setup.

Paragon named #1 Wilson dealer in US for 8th time

I have done business long-distance with Larry Marcus and Paragon, and I am always amazed that he remembers the details of our discussions years later, gets onto whatever it is that I am looking for and delivers almost immediately. A glimpse and example of why he is so successful.

In this video from April 2023, Armin of Avantgarde describes the materials as a special blend of ABS (automotive plastic...like for dashboards) where they create it with a foam-like inner which creates an inert damping characteristic so it does not create sympathetic vibrations nor contribute to...

Interesting...I noticed that (no spacehorns which are set up for 120hz downwards in the AG Trio G3 design). Believe it or not, I had a fleeting but similar thought recently due to the enormous space requirement (pardon the pun) of the AG bass units: - AG Trio G3 main horns only + dual Funk...

Thanks. Without the benefit of your expansive level of listening, within my own sphere of listening, I 100% agree. That is why I have found it so compelling in a way I have yet to come across in many many years.

Clear. Thanks. The Trio G3s are the first horns to make me think hard. They were extremely impressive that one time I heard them, and in a way that elevated them possibly a category class above the Arrakis and either in or just below the Genesis Ones...in terms of scale, that is. And then...

    David Karmeli’s Bionor/Lamm/AS-2000 Audio System

Same here. The primary 'soundstage-like' element I do focus on and enjoy is the sense of envelopment. This for me comes from effortless scale-ability and also deep deep sub 35hz bass which tends to give a sense of space and sense of venue.

Fair enough. IOW, you're not particularly convinced their application of a horn design to the 2 bass cones will go go far enough to create a more consistent sound (ie, horn loaded bass) across the whole spectrum? (I think you found discontinuity with the smaller AG designs if I recall correctly?)

Yes, I know...i am still trying to find any more current descriptions of the materials they are now using. nothing so far. And yes, could certainly do. I feel like an HRS-like material would be really good here.

Earlier AG horns were made of ABS plastic. https://www.stereophile.com/floorloudspeakers/287/index.html "...The horn is made of ABS, a material chosen for its neutral resonance behavior, resistance to temperature- and humidity-induced changes, and because it can be manufactured to close...

wow...thank you for weighing here. I know you design and produce, so helpful. I heard the same and (pure guesswork) seem to hear the same in videos. The one exception is Ultimate Audio's set of videos. 1. Is there anyway you could put an elastomer 'ring' around the OUTSIDE of the middle...

Anyone older in age eventually go from their beloved speakers to headphones instead? Please share!

I have to say, there is a teeny adjustment of a few minutes that I need to take going to our headphone system...but once I am in it, I really enjoy it. The qualities between the main system and the headphone system are very very similar in character. The main system is more organic and pure...

This was really excellent Ron. A great overview with some very specific insights into a truly unique system with exceptional attention to detail. Off the recording, did Todd ever explain WHY he wanted Torus subs below 30hz or so and what it adds? I know he has written about it, but I wanted...

In my limited experience (certainly compared with Mike L), I agree with this. - All amps have ups, downs, strengths, weaknesses (even if those weakness are more like they are simply just less strong in certain areas than others)...but one thing I have admired about Boulder is that when they...
