Good Morning Bob!
I also understand Alon’s (and your and Peter’s) stance on M9 videos. All I’m saying is that the damage that a video might do for the M9 aura is zero. But that’s my opinion and not of yours or Magico’s.
I am saying there’s nothing to worry about with these M9 videos. It...
Case in point - Livio posts videos of his Sonus Faber Supremas all the time. Off center. Bass anemic.
Honestly, no true customer of the speaker cares. It’s all for entertainment and those willing to shell out the mortgage level cash on one, would fly down to talk and meet with the likes of...
What I don’t understand is what’s the big deal about all this hoopla about an M9 video with off axis sound recording?
Do you honestly think a serious M9 customer is going to base their purchase decision on an online audio recording?
When I purchased my M2, I didn’t rely on any video recording...
You honestly think that Ron went in to videotape the M9 so that he could promote his Clarysis? A speaker that is not even remotely similar in any respect?
That’s a far stretch IMO.

Ron went for 2 hours.
You do understand that Ron just covered SWAF and went to visit Todd’s that same week?
I went to SWAF for a few hours each day, engineered the Dallas Audiophile Club Dinner and hung out with Ron at a bar after dinner and I was already wiped.
Cut the man a break.
Regardless if you don’t mention Ron’s name specifically - posting about a 15 minute dealer visit in a dealer visit thread with the exact 15 minute that was wrongfully extracted from the post means you were discussing no other person but Ron.
Sound Impressions:
If you haven't realized it by now, Todd is not an average audiophile. His attention to detail is unsurpassed. I believe his set up abilities are beyond most in our hobby. And on top of that, he has the budget AND the room to make it happen.
His trios are set up to a T...
I was fortunate enough to have met Todd a while back and have exchanged conversation and discussion with him offline. We have also had the good fortune to have met each other at a few meets at our local audiophile club here in Dallas.
A couple weekends ago, Todd invited me over. After a few...
Man that sucks. I know perhaps there might be slight cut to my quality, but I have my Boulder hooked up to a Torus RM20. You should look into that, these breakdowns always suck.
If the unit was tripped by a dc surge, then those kill switches, one of them might be popped out. So while unit it powered down, press all 4 of those switches in so they are flush.
then unplug all inputs, and then power on and see.
There are 4 breaker switches if it detects a dc line issue. It’ll protect the components from damage.
with the unit off, press all 4 of those little circular buttons flanking the power supply inlet.
Exactly. These prices are no longer related to performance or build cost. It’s merely a number attached to their flagship to match another brand’s flagship.
I was always under the impression that he built a listening room away from the house
but it appears from the article that he extended the split foyer and living room. Which meant that was probably the family room for the family. That’s a big commitment.
Good topic, Ron
I have spent more than what I thought I would spend on an audio system.
That said, it has given me more joy than pain. I used to not like the system as much when the system would be so finicky or would lean more towards certain genre of music. However, with time, and money -...
It's been 6 months since I've had the Opus installed on my second table.
And I can say, it's been a joy having 2 carts. I would say the Lyra Etna definitely sounds different compared to the Opus. The Opus was a great choice for a 2nd vinyl option.
Thank you all!
Hah. I have Cincy's throwaway 802D4 now... don't worry, they're in a safe place. Maybe his system being tilted economically away from the speakers which were the 802D4 is a testament to how good that speaker was in the first place.
While nothing is absolute, I prefer my speakers and subs non ported in general. But if I had ported speakers, I would not mind sealed subs. But all that means is that I don't prefer ported subwoofers for music.
