I have a 2nd system consisting of Shindo Monbrison preamp, Audio Note AN/E speakers and various tube amps (SET 2A3 and 300B; PP EL34). The main source I use with it is a totaldac d1-player and d1-core dac with streamer. The combination is magical! My main system is “better” but this 2nd...
About 9 months ago I upgraded a number of interconnects in my system from SR Galileo LE to Galileo SX. In addition, I went from a generic Staples ethernet cable to SR Galileo SX ethernet cable. BY FAR, BY FAR, the biggest sonic improvement was with the Gaileo SX ethernet cable. It was...
Yes. Very noticeable. In my experience, the Degritter is way better at getting rid of surface noise compared to a VPI 16.5. There is even some improvement on brand new records, although that is much more subtle to my ears.
I continue to love and regularly use my Degritter. So much so that I’ve been going thru my collection and cleaning every LP I’m likely to listen to. So far I’ve cleaned and then listened to over 300 LPs. A single cleaning has been adequate for 87% of the LPs, which is FAR better than I ever...
That is a VERY interesting question that I have thought a lot about over the years. I don’t think I have a definitive answer for you.
At one point in our lives we lived near Philly and had subscription tickets to the Philadelphia Orchestra. When the orchestra played at the Academy of Music, I...
Toward the end of last year there was a growing gap between my vinyl and digital systems, so I decided to upgrade from a totaldac d1-seven to the d1-twelve dac. I’ve been listening to the system now for 4 months, so I thought I would share my experience.
First some historical perspective. For...
If by “complexity” you mean being able to separate out individual instruments from a complex mix (e.g. orchestral music), I definitely agree with you. I think the imaging is better, more stable, too.
I must thank you all for stimulating me to think more about my system. The last time I tried different 300Bs, I had a solid state preamp. Since then, I’ve purchased a Shindo Monbrison. With the Monbrison the sound has been nice and warm, but lacking in some high frequency extension. So today...
Thanks. Very helpful.
Wish there was a tube seller who would allow customers to try out multiple brands of tubes, like the Cable Company does for cables. I’d love to try the Elrogs, Acme and Audio Note 300Bs, but $1500 is a lot of money to pay, only to find out you either don’t like or prefer...
A couple of years ago I tried a few different 300Bs. I purchased a set of EML 300B XLS tubes, and liked their detail and transparency, but found them a bit too dry. I ended up keeping TJ 300B/c tubes in the amp. They are more liquid and relaxed-sounding, but give up some transparency and top...

I've purchased Psvane tubes from Grant Fidelity, including having to return some. Good to work with. I would have no hesitation to buy from them again.
I purchased the Synergistic Research Galileo SX phono cable over the Christmas holidays. I am extremely happy with it. There was just a bit of "hardness" in my vinyl system that I didn't realize was there until I inserted the SX. Manages to be just slightly rich and warm while increasing...
It was my pleasure! I certainly learned a lot doing it. Hope people here find the information useful.
BTW, I'm still very happy with my Degritter. I've clean over 300 LPs so far!
The information on the water filter was obtained at the following link: https://www.discogs.com/forum/thread/751755 Taniel Pold (Degritter CEO) made the following posts regarding the water filter. You have to scroll pretty far down the page to find them, so I'll post excerpts here in quotes...
Yes to question 1. Adding the cleaning fluid increased the TDS and EC. Presumably, some sort of ionic cleaning agent is used.
I would say that by the end of LP 7 or 8, there has been a "real" increase in TDS and EC. I'm probably going to continue this little experiment in a couple of days...
I promised to come back with some data on how TDS changes following record cleaning, after receiving my TDS meter. Here it is. Hope this is at least thought-stimulating!
(The next 4 paragraphs are from Wikipedia, edited for content) Total dissolved solids (TDS) is a measure of the dissolved...
I love Vincent's designs and have been thinking about upgrading my equipment for awhile. This has been motivated, in part, by wanting to quit running Roon core on my iMac and instead run the core on a dedicated machine. On December 16, my d1-seven dac and d1-server are going back to France...
I totally agree that this statement should be true, but in this case, may not be. I drove 3 hrs to the same dealer's home to hear the Vox987 system probably 3yrs ago. As he was getting everything ready to play, he mentioned that he had only unpacked the speakers the prior day. The speakers...
My guess is that while the meter may not be quantitatively accurate, it is probably qualitatively accurate. I plan to test the distilled water straight from the jug, then in the cleaned reservoir prior to cleaning an LP, then after each LP. Of course, with a new filter. I’m curious to see...
As with many things made in China, I bet I found the same TDS meter sold under 10 different names, priced from a few dollars on Ebay to $20 + shipping. I paid $7 with free shipping.
