This past weekend makes it my 4th year going to this event. Every year, it gets bigger and better. This year was no different.
The really cool thing about this year's show is that I got to meet and talk to OCD Mikey! He met my three brothers as well. We chatted for a few minutes, then went on...
I don't know how you can't remember our discussions (arguments, disagreements) in this or other forums. 99% of the time, it's the same exact subject matter as this one. And no, you "picking on me" never crossed my mind. I think you simply refuse to listen to other, even correct options (not...
You won't get banned, and I won't argue, because I agree.
That being said, "Little Jay" is far more tolerable, personable and polite than "Big Jay".
Since I have met both, it becomes a bit more personal, and character and personality goes a long way, and I hold more value in that than whatever...
No matter what forum the two of us are in, you argue the same exact points that I always talk about, and every time, you're way off the mark. It's almost like you never really read anything I post.
Again, it does NOT matter if you have panel speakers that only go down to 40 Hz, stand mount...
Again, wrong. It is not "clearly" my opinion. It is a fact.
Very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very rarely will you ever get a flat, even bass response at your listening seat IF and WHEN your loudspeakers are properly positioned in the room for optimal sound stage and imaging.
99%...
As I've told you time and time again, it does NOT matter what loudspeaker you use, it is absolutely necessary to use two or more subwoofers in the room with any and all loudspeakers. That is the ONLY way you'll get a flat bass response in the room at the listening seat.
Hence my last sentence.
I'm quite aware that some may not be able to do all of those to get good sound. Then DSP would be a handy thing to use, but only then.
Don't put words in my mouth. I didn't insult you. Unless of course me saying that you're a fan of Gene and Amir you take as an insult, then that's on you. You shouldn't be agreeing with them then. LOL
As for the rest of that nonsense in your reply... YAWN...
Not that you care, but...
Out of those listed, the only ones worth a hill of beans is...
Darko Audio
Jay Iyagi
Steve Huff
Audiophile Junkie
In that order.
And the one no one has mentioned is Steve Guttenberg, which I place above all the others. He's every bit about the music as he is the gear.
Again, proper loudspeaker and listening positions first, two or more subwoofers properly located within the room, then room treatments.
With all of the above being done, you should have no need for any DSP.
If you're using DSP for room correction and you use more than one source, then the DSP will be intersecting the signal between your preamp and amp(s), a.k.a., AFTER the DAC.
You're not going to do room correction on just your CD/streamer side and not on your vinyl/tape side.
And not everyone...
People who actually know how to review. Most of them are wanna-be reviewers with a 12 word vocabulary.
They have near zero technical background, so all they can do is recite the brochure in their videos, then use that 12 word vocabulary of theirs to describe what they're hearing.
As far as...
Unless you have no way to properly position your loudspeakers and listening seat, or properly acoustically treat your room, or too lazy to do either or both, then I can see the point behind using DSP.
DSP is a band aid, a crutch. It's masking the issues instead of directly addressing them...
Other than being a huge fan of Gene and Amir apparently, who the heck are you?...
I feel no need or desire to explain myself to you.
You're some new guy (might as well be new since you've been a member for 7 years with only 34 posts) that came on here and all you do is argue EVERYONE'S point...
Considering people were buying that Onkyo M-505 amp five to ten years ago for $400-$500, I can only imagine how "thoroughly tested and guaranteed" your amp is for only $200 in today's market.
You might want to get your soldering iron warmed up and a new spool for solder ready for when your amp...
Love that PD444. After purchasing my PD277, the same seller went to sell his PD444 as well. Unfortunately, it sold before I got a chance at it.
On topic of favorite preamps, mine started with the mint Accuphase C-200. I recapped it and it performed flawlessly for years. A full body sound, loads...
You DO realize that that amplifier is 40 years old and will most likely need to be recapped at this point, right?
Meaning that IF it powers up at all, it won't be working at full potential, then with the added stress of powering your loudspeakers, will cause what little life is left in those 40...
