Related to your wonder, the answer I am afraid is not...;)
Sending out the device it should not be that scary. It is safe. Meny other are doing it and nothing was lost or damaged. The mail system it treat the parcels quite well and safe. More, one can follow the parcel all the way, by the...
The firmware of UB9000 is full of issues and software imperfections. It is like they used an beta version of this software, and then never interested to even update it, or addressing the obvious issues. A perfect careless for the users who pay enough much for this product. It seems to me as an...
Well, talking about the upgraded devices, the Oppo it still be the best all in one player (all models), at their time. The performances Oppo it still provide (again it is about upgraded devices), it is very good, but more and more it get surpassed technologically, by the new devices on marked...
It is now well known about the improvements an linear power supply it brings when using it in audio/video signal source devices. I have started with designing LPS for Oppo players (beside an extended game of other upgrades). Now all Oppo player models it benefit of my LPS. I have then extended...
In my opinion, I think it is not necessary replacing the original clocking device in UB9000. The clock approach is much elaborated in this device, than it is in Oppo players. In my upgrades, I improve even more this section as well. The problem is the power system, and not the clock circuit in...
The stock device quality on XLR is enough good (better than on stock Oppo). It become much better after upgrades on both stereo DAC and audio board itself (also LPS in place)...
I would like to point out on an aspect (important issue) of the firmware of the UB9000, which it seems known to Panasonic, but for unexplainable reasons, they (still) ignore to fix it.
At questions about why this issue of this player model, their answer is “we do not know the cause of such” …...
This LPS is exclusively designed for UB9000, and yes, I am doing things professionally. The original power supply of the device it is indeed an switching type PSU. Replacing it with an linear/analogue PSU, it lower dramatically the electrical noises into the system. The improvement is first...
Hi ronb23,
You can purchase it from me directly (also the only option...). Please contact me on provided email address (PM), and then we can get into all details.
The LPS for 203 it come in two versions: one complete LPS version, powering both main board and audio board, and an simple LPS...
Hi NOA,
Yes, my LPS for 203, as for any Oppo device (Cambridge CXUHD, Panasonic UB9000), still be available. The installation is very easy (plug and paly), and you can do it by yourself (all support and guidance are included). You have a PM about...
Cambridge CXUHD is mostly identical to Oppo 203 (except the analogue audio outputs). Here is fully improved (also optical drive mounted on elastic suspensions)...
Improving even more the analogue power system (105/205). Now ultra low noise regulators for the +/-12v rails (TPS7Axxxx). Also I replaced the LM317, I used on pre regulators (DAC power system), with AZ1117, which is slightly better.
Last step in improving Sonica DAC, is replacing the post DAC analogue section. I use my fully differential output module, based on OPA1632. Simultaneous XLR and RCA outputs from DAC chip two unified pair channels. The module it provide direct coupling signal. Ultra low noise regulators on board...
Next step in my improving process is replacing the original clock system (a resonator for main processor and an oscillator for DAC chip). I will use my clocking approach consisting in two Epson oscillators: one for processor and the second (a SAW type) for DAC chip. Both are powered from battery...
For those interested in Sonica, I have started a new thread:
https://www.whatsbestforum.com/threads/oppo-sonica-dac-upgrades-modifications-discussions.26706/
Sonica DAC, another product of Oppo, with last version of the most advanced DAC chip inside. A product which sadly, it will not be produced anymore, as the rest of the Oppo series...
I started recently taking a closer look on Sonica, trying to figure out what it could be improved and upgraded...
Actually, replacing the original SMPS with a linear power supply is the first important step (and maybe the easier) in improving the player performances.
Well, first I am not drilling ventilation holes into the chassis, improving so the device inside cooling. My approach is quite different. I have designed new side panels with ventilation openings, and these are to replace the original ones. The result you can see in the hereby pictures.
Second...
