    Magico M3

I had Vicoustics design a set of treatments for my room. See picture. It’s extensive but man did it do the job. Subs are gone. Bass quality is through the roof. Spectrum is much improved. The Magico M3’s have been replaced by Rockport Orions but I’m sure the treatments would have had the same...

    Rockport Lyra

Regarding binding posts: I stand corrected. I checked with my dealer and found I was incorrect. If you don't specify dual binding posts, you will get single pair /speaker. He spec'd duals for me to give me the maximum flexibility for future system growth. Eric

This is the standard delivery configuration. Two sets of binding posts per speaker. I never questioned Rockport's decision.

    Rockport Lyra

I had Magico M3's paired with MSB mono blocks and a Select II DAC. The system was very satisfying and should have been enough but.....I didn't think I was getting everything from the files I could and I was right. I can't assign the differences in what I'm hearing to any particular component...

The CH M10's with the Orions present me with audio the likes of which I have never heard before in my 35 years in this hobby. They are end game products. I am using them with CH Precision's L10 pre amp. Eric

    Rockport Lyra

Each of my Orions have two set of lugs for amp connections. I use a pair of Nordost jumpers on each speaker to connect them as I am set up to run with one CH 10 amp. Cincy

    Rockport Lyra

My Orions are single wired with Odin 2's. I also see no value in bi wiring and questionable potential return on an investment for bi-amping. I honestly don't see how the sound can get any better in my room with the simple setup I am using. Cincy

    Rockport Technologies Introduces Orion Loudspeaker

After a few weeks of critical listening with the Orions, I believe they are the most extraordinary speakers I have ever owned or listened to. Trumpets, clarinets, flutes and other higher register instruments present with an unforced strain and clarity the likes of which I have never experienced...

    Rockport Orions with a subwoofer?

Joey Yes. I believe the Vicoustic room treatments cleaned up the bass modes eliminating the need for it. Eric

Wadax Reference Dac and Server arrive

Yes indeed. I can't compare it to the smaller models only to the system without it. I could never go back.

Wadax Reference Dac and Server arrive

Joey! Small world. Yes you are welcome. The freight company picked them up a few hours ago and they are headed to you. I love B&W's 800 series. I've owned three pairs over the years and loved them all. You will not regret your purchase. Eric

I'm in the fourth quarter of my "game" so there was some pressure to find what pleased me and then to enjoy it as long as I can. Thx Eric

Wadax Reference Dac and Server arrive

My Rockport Orions have arrived and were put in place by the Dream Team yesterday. The major contributors were Ron Buffington from Liquid Hi Fi in South Carolina and Jon Zimmer from Rockport Industries in Maine. I feel very lucky to have had the privilege of interacting with both these...

Wadax Reference Dac and Server arrive

I'm using a CAD Reference Ground Control system. I've had it in and out of the system. The effect is very noticeable. Blacker backgrounds primarily. https://www.computeraudiodesign.com/gc1-ground-control/

Wadax Reference Dac and Server arrive

Mike The Server power supply DID make a noticeable difference in the system sound. The trebles and mids were denser, more saturated. I don't know about their power cords. That may be a step too far for me. I'm already feeding the DAC PS and Server PS with battery power from a Stromtank supply...

    Rockport Orions with a subwoofer?

No. I had two pairs prior years ago, 800's and 801's before the diamond tweeters were introduced. Both were fabulous speakers.

    Rockport Orions with a subwoofer?

It will be my pleasure to offer you my thoughts on all 3, the Orions, the Magico M3's and the D4's. We are staged and ready for the swap on Tuesday next week. I will spend the weekend listening to the 802D4's so I have them fresh in my mind. I will never forget the Magico M3s. The Orions are in...

    Rockport Orions with a subwoofer?

I've been a rabid audiophile for thirty years. The M3s were the best speaker I have had in my system since I started down the rabbit hole. They need a good source as do any high end speaker but they have you everything you could want in space, articulation, accuracy, speed, coherence, soundstage...

I used several. My favorites were the Abyss AB 1266 with a dCS Line solid state amp.

    Rockport Orions with a subwoofer?

BTW, I agree with your estimate of the difficulty integrating bass with the system. My subs (originally Magico's were integrated remotely by the Magico engineers in Israel by playing test tones and monitoring the response via computer.

    Rockport Orions with a subwoofer?

This was true in my case. When I had my M3's, the room created a huge base suck-out at around 60Hz. Moving things around either screwed up the trebles or made the bass worse. The subs were rolled off at around 75Hz and filled the hole nicely. The improvement was not insignificant. Eric

    Rockport Orions with a subwoofer?

Joey, The room is 19.5 feet wide and 24 feet long. A while ago I fell down a very deep rabbit hole chasing headphone perfection. I sold the M3's. While I enjoyed headphone listening a lot it never really measured up to the immersive experience of real two channel audio. I wanted a pair of...

Thank you for your thoughtful reply. I have an open mind and a small room. If the tests are as you describe I will be thrilled to pass the subs on to another audiophile. Eric

    Rockport Orions with a subwoofer?

I'm anxious to try my new Orions (arriving Thursday this week) with and without the B&W subs. I know the subs had a positive impact with my Magico M3's and currently with the B&W 802D4s. I don't know what to expect with the Rockport design. It would be nice if they were not required but it won't...

Wadax Server PSU unit has now arrived

Still very happy with the sonic attributes of this upgrade. Another example of what I hear is a difference in trumpets. Much more saturated sound that stands out fromm the background. My Clark Terry files are a joy to listen to. They always were but more so now.
