Visit to Audiophile Bill to hear his horns project

It looks like a wooden version of a K-402. Nice btw! I think the previous was a JMLC-270?

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

to me without (connected)screen. I tried to many screened (incl 'audiophile') and never liked them. I allways hear distortion and noise. The screen is not affecting the signal but the (connected to metal connectors)screen is transporting noise (e.g. from powersupply or..) in to the next...

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Agree. I still use a good switch. From my home inletbox(incl wifi) a 50ft stock cat 6 cable to the switch and from there a 6 feet (not shielded cable and connectors) cable in to the Extreme. With this setup i tested the countless (100 ++) different OS and usb and network configurations for...

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

I also use 2 dedicated main lines for my system. I tried everything and prefer to have the Extreme on a seperate line. My vote: - Taiko alone - 760 and 711 together And no ethernet-switch to the mainsystem powerline. And the switch not grounded. Most are not.

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Sorry i'm trying but i find it hard to understand you. I completely don't see this as trial and error. Perhaps when you just read 1 or 2 posts or a few more instead of the 9000. The Taiko Extreme has always performed superb. From the first day i bought it (2019) till this day. At that time...

Which 300b amplifier: Nagra 300p, Luxman MQ-300, Wavac EC-300B, Air Tight ATM-300R, Shindo Cortese 300b

Yes. I am not sure what you exactly mean, but in most aspects i prefer the Elysiums. Allthough the Alieno is a great amplifier.

    Zero Distortion: Tango Time

I think what you are saying is nonsense. For sure in relation to what is discussed in this topic, the distance listening position to mainspeaker and to basshorn. I only agree with the above theory when it's on the vertical ax or to the side with still the same Listeningposition to speaker...

    Zero Distortion: Tango Time

Whenever you want to move the amps someday, maybe you can get a small custom made rack between the mainspeaker and basshorn. I don't know how much space there is but i mean something like this. And make the max height incl amp a bit lower than the basshorn. But first listen for a few months :).

    Zero Distortion: Tango Time

Hi Tang, i am glad you are enjoying your system so much right now. I find it unbelievable how much is going on in those 2 octaves. Now with the same speed and coherence compared to the mainspeakers. From the pictures it looks your basshorns are at least one meter more in front than mine where at...

audioquattr system, from A to Z

Thank you Bill! You are right in doubting about that (when you read part1), it is that what i was thinking before the install (part 1) and what i experienced after part 1 and what i have tried to explain in post #69...

Those are EML 300b XLS, since i found the right driver tube combi this is my favourite output tube. But not in the Pacific, i tried but didn't like it there, also not as a complement. It is really trying for the right combi and allways different in other gear.

audioquattr system, from A to Z

Thank you Christoph! Well i allways liked the sound of the PSv we101d and mostly its highs, the beautifull decay on notes and its soundstage. But it has some lower-midrange leaness. Alone i don't prefer the new type Elrog 300b in the lampi. But as a complement it was the best from all the tubes...

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

I have listened to 7 mostly the last week. Yes i agree Bob 7 is much more 3-dimensional than default. Also 3 is 50% less 3-D in my system. 6 is also a good setting. I just tried several but still prefer 7. Tone and decay and flow is bit more natural at my situ.

audioquattr system, from A to Z

I got what you mean but you don't notice the basshorns. You don't hear them till you switch them off. You hear the bass coming from the same position as the mainspeakers are projecting it. You won't hear them aswell, only with a crap recording. Go visit some windmills and tulips overhere after...

Thank you Microstip! I knew it would be better with the basshorn but i couldn't believe it was so much better. You're right, full bandwith same technology makes really sense.

audioquattr system, from A to Z

Thank you spiritofmusic! The midbass (double 11") from the Zeta to the mid (big top mounted horn) Xover at 350hz (1st order). The Zeta is not filtered at the bottom. It acoustically works because of its hornsize (120cm) down till 76hz . The new basshorns from about 27hz to 76hz crossed with its...

audioquattr system, from A to Z

Part2. The bass was full and fast but not coherent and integrated with the midbass. I couldn't get the phase right (to my ears). I very much had doubts about that before the placement of the basshorns at the frontwall. Since i have this room (since 2012) i have tried subs/bass systems through...

audioquattr system, from A to Z

After the setup was finished we dialed in the Cessaro amplifiers for the basshorns. Over the next weeks i optimized the settings. It all sounded good but still not great. Offcourse this is all room and situation dependent. part 1 pictures

audioquattr system, from A to Z

A system update. I am not sure if this is a small or big system update. In terms of part of the frequency range it is just a small part, just 1,5-2 octave. Physical it is a big change. And as result of the whole sound it is finally also a BIG change. It is the fundamentally part of the sound...
