With a properly set up XVX, the image is not too tall, and certainly not 8 ft for a voice. In order of the set up process, the following are all possibilities 1) Poor choice of the Zone of Neutrality/ Listening Position 2) Improperly aligned modules relative to the listening distance/ ear...
Those are Wilson Audio Quadra-Mag mid-range drivers, designed by Daryl Wilson and Vern Credille (initially for the Chronosonic XVX and now used in Alexx V and Alexia V) , and built for Wilson by Scanspeak.

The XVX need room to breath and do deserve top shelf everything. I auditioned them in 2 locations (2 different states in US). The first audition was poor do to the room and a very poor cobbled together choice of electronics. The second audition was spectacular with a...
Tweeter to Tweeter * 1.2 = Listening Distance Example: 100 inch tweeter to tweeter = 120 inch listening distance (DAW range)
.83 * Listening Distance = Tweeter to Tweeter. Example: 120 inch listening distance = 99.6 inch tweeter to tweeter (Jim Smith)
These are good starting points, assuming...
The Quadra-Mag Alnico Mid-Range was Dave's last project with Vern Credille. The difficulty of design - the manufacturer insisted that the concept would never work - left it a design in progress at his death. Daryl Wilson and Vern completed the design specifically for the Chronosonic XVX.
Steve not to worry. If we have painted it previously and it is still available from our suppliers, a color falls into our upgrade category. I believe we are somewhere between 70 and 80 upgrade colors.
We have discussed the methodology to enact a fair effective trade-in/ CPO program with high end manufacturers who will listen. Any long established manufacturer has far more owners of their product in the field and more aspirational potential owners than all their new product owners that will be...
Some of what you have written is contained within our Wilson Way Training sessions on the ever changing hifi market (and how we got here going back to the Fair Trade Acts states enacted in the 1930's) followed by sessions on Trade-Ins and Certified Authentic. The vehicles and methods change but...
Sadly, exclusive (entitled) territories have eroded service expectations over the past half a century. Better to remove geographical lines and set a dealer service standard well above expectations than continue to empower dealers who believe they "own" the customer because of his/her address.
That reply is referring to Chronosonic XVX and the WAMM. They are the only speakers for which we provide dealers/distributors with proprietary offsets.
However, we supply exact listening distance/ear height settings to our dealers and distributors for any of our alignable speakers.
I am talking about proper time alignment based on a listening distance and ear height numbers that are between the distances/heights listed in the manual. Amplifier specification is not a part of this.
Pedro can contact us to get precise numbers for a listening distance and ear height that are in between the settings in the manual. Those settings should be requested/applied once the speaker position and listening position are finalized.
The described adjustment applies only to Wilson speakers introduced beginning with the WAMM Master Chronosonic. It is done only on speakers where the connections into the mid and tweeter modules are run through the gas tight connection. The connector allows sufficient cable routing adjustment...
Quintessence Audio, Wilson Audio's Chicagoland dealer, will be displaying AlexxV and Sasha DAW.
JS Audio will be displaying a 1983 throwback system that will feature the original WAMM Serial No 001/002
1) Wilson Audio solder joints are mechanically sound. Pull away judiciously
2) The PTA review set up was the point at which we started to fully quantify/fine tune the cable routing changes.
3) The routing has been included as a part of the set up process we teach.
Are they unused? If so use those. If not, call Jerron. Either way, you might be in for a very pleasant surprise.
Make sure to remove any oxidation on the resistor leads
Steve they have no way to assess this. You cannot measure the resistors in circuit. Further, by the time you can pull them out of circuit, they will no longer be at operating temp. Just replace them. If there is no change, we suggest owners put the old resistors into their tool kit.
But in your...
I have extensive experience with Wilson Audio dealers on a daily basis. I work for Wilson Audio.
Multiple dealers who do this exist. It's actually pretty common. As for the time it takes, I am well aware. I have installed the diodes on numerous speakers, at home and in the field. As long as the...
The Acoustic Diodes are being used on every current Wilson speaker save TuneTot. Since the release of Alexx V, Wilson has offered Acoustic Diodes as an upchsrge upgrade with a new Wilson speaker.
As for dealers, most have them on demo on more than Alexx V. By the end of this week, there is one...
The entitled territory in high end is a half century old, fully entrenched industry concept. It is absurd to tell people they must spend large sums of money based on a line on a map yet our industry by and large adheres to it like a religion.
Wilson Audio eliminated dealer territories in...
The Wilson Music Room has indeed employed a Parasound on the subs over the years. In the early days of the WAMM Master Chronosonic and the Masters Subsonics, the Parasound was replaced by d'Agostino S250. Though the S250 is a substantial improvement in the system performance, the Parasound has...
Oh that it were that easy. Remember group delay varies with frequency.
Measurement requires the same process as is utilized in the initial measurement of the amp/speaker used for the Nomograph calculations. From those results, offsets are calculated.
Some amps have greater offset variations...
Steve, different models have different distance variations as you can see from the 6 inch increments in Tims post above.
When the dealer is finished installing, he can contact Wilson to get the numbers for the exact listening height and listening distance.
