Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

I just revisited the original 3 files Marty sent me in December Very close The Duke Ellington .wav file gets the nod for me The other 2 a toss-up, especially Baby Blue

He sent me some files also, probably the same ones. (I might of forgotten to thank him so thank you cat6man) For me the .wav files sounded more polite, a bit smooth/processed. Almost like the micro-details were missing.

Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

When I had the Vivaldi stack, the preamp was horrible. Actually the whole dCS implementation was pretty bad. Mappers, upsampling, filters, cables, beta after beta software, just a mess. This was before APEX but still seems to be the case. The virtues you speak of are the poor dCS preamp, not...

    Soulution 511 Amplifier Impressions

Interesting I ran a pair of 511's in mono on Magico MProjects and it wasn't good. Basically the exact opposite of what u described. Thin, hard, not very dynamic. Couldn't wait to move on They were gone in a few months

    R.I.P. Jim Winey

LMAO My experience almost identical: In 75 I was off to Grad school on a full R,B,T scholarship. So what did I do? Took out a student loan and bought some gear: Tympani 1C's (maybe D's) ,SP3A, and a Quatre Gain Cell amp, all from Stereo Emporium in Buffalo,NY. Maybe in the Spring of 76 I bought...

Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

I too prefer the optical from PRO USB module over the DAC SFP+ cable on my MSB Select II. What I haven't tried yet is replacing the optical between the S II DAC and the DD with an SFP+ cable. It will be interesting to see what Emile recommends with his MSB/XDMI solution
