Hello, I am new to this site and trying to become reacquainted with my old collection of vinyl I am currently using a 90's era Onkyo AV receiver along with a beautiful Technics SL-1100A running a Shure V-15 III cartridge with a Shure VN-35E, which I inherited from my older brother. The receiver is connected to a pair of Klipsch Synergy F300 speakers. I am pretty sure that Onk, is not giving me the best performance possible from the Turntable (speakers possibly down the road) So since I am quite a novice here, I would appreciate any thoughts and opinions on which might be a better choice between a Denon PVA 500v (1986) and a Yamaha s501 (new) as I have an opportunity to pick up the older Denon at a really good price or buy the Yamaha new. Cost difference is around $300 - $400 bucks, depending on where I would pick up the new Yamaha.
