My first post/thread on this forum. Some of you may have already seen my system on another audio-related website. Comments and suggestions are welcome!

Welcome! What about them Leafs, eh? Oh, ok...let's not go there!;):p

Love the simplicity of your setup.

Thank you Dr. Williams for creating a forum devoted to the ne plus ultra of high end audio. I have spent countless web-based hours admiring SOTA systems, and I must say, your X-2/ML3 set-ups is one of the finest I've seen. Also, as a healthcare practitioner myself, I think you made a wise decision moving down south!

John, I'm actually more of a basketball fan - I know, odd for a Canadian. As you are well aware, the Raptors are equally or perhaps more hopeless than the Leafs! I try to keep a very uncluttered look to my system. However, I anticipate monoblocs being the next step which would certainly complicate things.

Llloyd, thanks for the kind words. After many years of trying, jazz has finally clicked for me. Consequently, my boltz rack is rapidly running out of space as I have probably acquired 50 CDs in the past three months (21 of them being Thelonious Monk).

And thank you for the warm welcome Tom. I look forward to spending lots of time here.

Nice System, and a good looking room as well.

I love your Focal Speakers, i had the Micro Utopia BE before i switched to floorstanding Lumen White monitors. Never heard the Focal/McIntosh combination but i read about good synergy between those brands quite often.

The only suggestion i have, or the only alteration i would make if this was my room, would be hanging a painting on the wall behind the electronics.

Thank you for your kind words Fabian. I agree, the front wall definitely needs to be addressed. I am planning on some acoustic treatments from Vicoustic or RPG Skyline at some point. I am also considering a pair of Mac 501 monos when the timing is right. The system has remained unchanged for over 2 years now and I am need of a significant uprgrade.

Deja vu; I've seen this system before, from another site, but can't recall right now.
And I also have the memory to have commented regarding its position.
...Interesting possibilities, and challenges as well...

Welcome AD!

The Vicoustic stuff looks really great, i've seen it at an audio show a couple of month back. Also it's not too expensive (in audio terms) thats why i'm contemplating using it for my new room.

I'm looking forward to seeing your room develop, acoustic Treatments as well as 501's. Until then happy listening

Near Atlanta, GA but not too near!
Welcome to WBF, AD! Look forward to hearing more from you.

Sounds like it's time to get those CDs ripped to a hard drive and get a music server running!

Lee

VERY nice. And I agree with Lee. Get a music server running and it will dramatically change the way you listen to music (and may even improve the listening experience).

Andre - thank you for your kind compliments. In contrast to many audio enthusiasts, I do place a high emphasis on the overall aesthetics of the system and the individual components as I am directly looking at them for prolonged periods of time.

North Star - thank you as well. As I may have mentioned on the other audio site, the speakers are not well integrated into my room and some tweaking is required. However, I find the process very frustrating with much second guessing and sore muscles so they have remained in their initial location.

Audioguy - I really enjoy acquiring physical media from the selection process (reading reviews and forums) to making the committment of listening all the way through. I also recognize that I am a dying breed in regards to continuing with CDs as my primary source. I do have dreams of a nice vinyl set-up but that is several years away.

My pleasure. Nothing beats a cozy, comfortable listening room, and a proper set up!

This is my first post in a few years. I have included an updated image of my system in my previous listening room. Later this month, construction will begin for a dedicated 15' x 22' audio room. I have commissioned Vicoustic Projects for the acoustic treatments. Very exiting times ahead. I will be posting some intermittent updates in this thread.
