Very good amps.. tight iron fisted grip on the bass.. clean sound, dynamics... not much to complain.. however, it can be slightly dry sounding hence I prefer matting the Boulder power amp with a tube pre-amp. Or something tube in the chain. Hope that helps.

To answer part of the question: I got the Boulder 1110 preamp, replacing a ARC Ref40 tube preamp, and agree with the cited review.
