They sure need a good prime wide angle. Canon is way behind here.
Way behind in what way? The distortion on the 35/1.4 is a little high but that can be fixed in the computer. Bokeh is also a little odd sometimes but overall it performs very well:
And it doubles are a low light lens for close up shots. Very flexible.
As for other Canon wide primes, the 17 TS-E is simply awesome. Sharp corner to corner more or less to pixel level except under extreme shift. And almost no distortion. Acts more like a symmetrical view camera wide angle than a retrofocus SLR lens. "Good" doesn't even begin to describe it:
And I heard the 24 TS-E is very similar as well.
Sadly just like the rest of their newer pro lenses, it will be priced out of this world if it does happen.....
Yup. In the old days, one main reason to go with Canon is the supeteles are much cheaper than the Nikon counterpart. These days, it's just the reverse. And now the APS-H size is gone. Sad...
