my dealer has a demo cartridge he will sell but it has a thousand hours on it. He says he was going for a retip but he was told they were good for three thousand hours. That does not sound right to me but does anyone here have experience with this cart?

How long a stylus lasts is based on averages not absolutes. You will either have to 'go by ear' or send it to be pro examined. As an aside don't the Top Wings have user replaceable stylus/cantilever assemblies like a MM cart? I've not had one in hand so cannot comment from direct experience...

The cantilever is "modular" which makes servicing/replacing them cheaper than most. Though, they are not user serviceable.
