Near Atlanta, GA but not too near!
My pre-processor has HDMI out (actually two of them) and analog out but does not have any of the "traditional" digital out abilities. I have an external DAC I would like to use if possible. Is there an available product that can take one of the HDMI output streams, and strip off the L + R (plus sub) via either USB or SPDIF or AES or ?? facilitate being able to use my DAC(s)?

My guess is that if such a product exists that it is not mainstream since the powers-that-be don't want me to have digital access to that data.

That assumes that whoever designed and built the product cares about such things. That is why I used the tern, "not mainstream";)

Since any digital designer worth his salt can probably design such a device, yet none are commercially available, apparently they care about not being part of legal action quite a bit....
