Gonna give "The Watchmen" a tumble...

It's a very enjoyable series, along with The Boys. The boys season II starts next week. Both superhero series on Amazon Prime

They better give the Boys characters some V juice. Wait nevermind the show is stupid already because they completely changed it from the comics to make it nonsensical.

BTW I've been enjoying NCIS, light and easy to watch on Netflix without having to sit down for length periods. The earlier shows are great before everything started getting all weak and more PC.

Umbrella academy is fun. Not great but good enough to binge and enjoy

Just binge watched The Larry Sanders Show. Total triumph, Artie/Rip Torn is my GF's hero.
This show/Seinfeld/Frasier...gosh, I miss the 90s.

The genius was his life WAS the talk show. I'd say that other than flashes of inspiration on Curb Your Enthusiam and Arrested Development, Larry Sanders/Seinfeld/Frasier remain the apogee of tv comedy, nothing since has come remotely close.
Big Bang Theory? Fleabag? Not even close.

I know exactly what you mean. It seems like some shows and sitcoms from 20,30 years ago managed to capture a closer to a timeless sense of humour. Or maybe it is just a few people glorifying the past? I am sure that in 20 to 30 years time Big Bang will become a reference point.

The 90s was a goldmine for comedy, with Brit versions of The Office and Spaced.
70s and 80s chock full of great comedy too.
I'm struggling to recollect much great in the 00s and 10s.

It's also that time in yr life. Nostalgia is not just for music. Comedy too.
Life now feels atomised and stressed, imho the new normal is now just the sub normal.
I can't do anything but look back to the great comedy of the 70s-90s and feel it'll never be surpassed.

Everyone struggles to connect to comedy in the 2000’s. It’s mostly shitty and gets shittier as PC culture waters it down more, and movie budgets let it all go too far.

Well, Peep Show from the UK that ran c.2003 to mid 2010s is a rare exception. A proper irreverent non-PC look at life from a very male POV. This may have been the last comedy truly untainted by PC. Imho, other than the last two or three seasons, a classic to compete with best of them.

Can anyone see "Soap" being made today? Nope, me neither.

The Thick of It - 2005 - still one of the best written political comedies (and not PC) although of course very UK centric - far better than Veep which has its moments but I don't think it touched the original from Iannucci - just great writing. I think there's something about using comedians (often stand-ups) in shows - Peter Kay did it with Phoenix Nights to good effect.

My favourite show of all time would have to be Monty Python. I could not think of a comedy show with a more apparent influence on British comedy.

I'm running thru the fully restored Blu Rays of Python. It's hard to over emphasise how ground breaking this was at the time. Rode on the crest of the late 60s counterculture.

Watch "Life Of Brian" today in terms of PC culture 2020. It's an accurate prediction of the future from four decades ago.

The beauty of Monty Python is its timelessness and the fact that it appeals to a very wide spectrum of audiences. My little niece (12 years old) is also a huge fan.

That's a good kid Lol. Right now, the world feels like an extended Python sketch. Surreal, and just a little scary Lol.
