Havent seen a charging station/ electric car / tesla yet loll.
Mostly large pick up trucks blowing black smoke .

I mean, it’s South Dakota! I don’t want to sound like a Bay Area elitist, which I undoubtedly am, but the wonderful state of South Dakota is not known for its ability to shape the future. Perhaps it’s for the best. I’d hate for the rest of the country to reflect the vibes of the Bay Area.
Let’s not extrapolate using one data point. The first supercharger station I ever saw (honest) was in Sheridan, Wyoming, circa 2016. Middle. Of. Nowhere. I was visiting some of the largest coal mines in North America. Definitely not EV country but there they were.

Yes based on the Plugshare app it's a little sparse in Brookings.
I spend the whole day off driving around SD and i saw 1 Tesla model X ..
None of the gas stations i saw even had a charger
( i did see an enourmous amount of Harleys)
In Scandinavia (certainly
Denmark ) Tesla is very popular

Totally lame IMO. Personally I wouldn’t own either. My next door neighbor has a cybertruck. It actually fits in his garage beside their Mercedes without being cramped.

The follow is interesting though because it turns out other people have had normal problems with the bumper coming off and ruining the frame while towing under the tow limit. So far there is no full electric "truck" that is really a good vehicle in any way yet - only hybrids and not commercial ones available today. Seems like we need a technology leap for utility to utterly escape fossil fuel, but of course the power generation is kinda crap still anyways.
Tesla cars are not the most attractive cars to me, but they are pretty cool. The first time I saw a Cybertruck in person I was not attracted to it at all.
How so? The Lightening has recalls, and cannot toe for anything but short distances. It might serve as a useful no-heat vehicle for wildland fire fighter crews because it can drive over brush without starting fires, but it can only deliver small items like (gas) chainsaws, food, basic small supply non-water tank etc. Functionally having diesel generators all over fire camps is not very practical compared to a few gas cans so even that is a stretch.
Rivan is basically the same issues. However I will give it credit that in dry conditions it is not bad at off roading.
In tests these vehicles take an extra 4 hours in a day when doing towing over normal gas/hybrid vehicles. Utility they are not.
Well for one, not sure how you figure everyone who owns a truck uses it for towning. I own a truck and did borrow my neighbor's trailer to haul a bbq smoker once. I'm sure there are quite a few (probably the majority) truck owners who use them for yard work, etc.
I know a guy who is a carpenter who owns a Lighting and loves it. For him it does everything he want.
I guess you only see Truck owners are needing/wanting to use them for towing. I for one do not. Hence the Lighting and Rivan trucks are other options for people wanting an EV truck.
