Included in my listening sessions the past couple of weeks has been the 30th anniversary 2021 remastered edition of Nirvana’s iconic “Nevermind” album and the recordings of the live shows released along to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the album. And wow what a phenomenal job that Randy Merrill did over at Sterling Sound studios to bring new life and clean up the recordings to provide even more detail and bite to these songs. Kurt Cobain probably would not approve of the slightly less grungy, more polished, production but for listening to them over the “Hi-Fi”, the 2021 remastered version is a winner, in my ears.

This is the only remastering that has caught my attention, as being better and not just different, since the 2010 remastered version of Nine Inch Nails’ “Pretty Hate Machine” was released In 2011.

Excellent work by the mastering engineers behind the knobs to make these great recordings sound even better. These are obviously not typical audiophile standards, but more than worth a listen…..or two……or more to “take in, the extend of my sin”.
