You may have heard of this already. A copy of a previously unknown composition by W.A. Mozart was recently discovered in the Leipzig music library. Mozart was thought to have written the piece in the second half of the 1760s which would be when he was a teenager -- that would be before his first trip to Italy when his father was showing him off to Europe.
The piece is named Ganz kleine Nachtmusik (K.648) or 'Quite little night music'. (Not to be confused with his well known Eine kleine Nachtmusik (K.525), 'A little night music'.) The newly discovered work is a string trio for two violins and a violoncello. It's a light little ditty yet sophisticated from a musical prodigy. Nonetheless pretty cool to re-discover the young Mozart some 260 years later. Here is the premier at the Leipzig Opera House on Sept 9 2024 -- seems to be a shortened version -- with interruption from a librarian?
Here is another release, much longer. Described as seven minature movements...
edit: pls add any corrections
