Irishman totally shut out

Yes, I'm not a Golden Globe expert; it got zero Globe.
I think the 9,000 Academy members might turn the balance @ the Oscars next month.

1917 becomes a must see

I'd say as it got the two most prestigious Globes; Best Director & Best Picture Drama.
_____

And it was an excellent evening for Quentin Tarantino (and Brad Pitt), and for Joker too (Joaquin Phoenix and Hildur Guðnadóttir).

TV is not my mojo; but Chernobyl made an impact (true events).
_____

* Real life right now is also making a serious (drama) impact ... They'll make a movie in the future, more than one.

If we look @ most winners (and several nominations), both the films and TV series are based more or less loosely (books, accounts) on real past events. It's culture history for the screens and TVs. ...Some more adapted than others.

And perhaps because there are many TV categories, Netflix wasn't prominent in the Films categories; Laura Dern - Marriage Story...that's it.

Reflecting back on last night Golden Globe Awards, ever so slightly and with objective clarity, it comes to mind wondering what exactly happened.

I did not see Sam Mendes's film 1917, so I cannot comment on the night's biggest winner in full view, only from glimpses that are very positive in its story, and the people related working on it.
So chapeau to Sam Mendes and 1917.

As for Joker, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and The Irishman my best guess is that the ones for the movie theaters (instead of Netflix) are the favorites. And as a matter of fact that point has been proven last night with the former twos taking five statuettes between them and the later zero. I understand that and I respect that too.

What it all come back to is this; Cinema climate change. Streaming did not exist in the 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s ... it is now. But it does not change the fact that we also have way more movie theaters today than yesterday, and all across the oceans.

We are adapting to the film and TV industry, that's part of entertainment.
So many stories to be told and shown, so little time.

? 1917
"The film is based in part on an account told to Mendes by his paternal grandfather, Alfred Mendes. It chronicles the story of two young British soldiers during World War I in the spring of 1917 who were given a mission to deliver a message. It warns of an ambush during a skirmish soon after the German retreat to the Hindenburg Line during Operation Alberich."

All was good last night, it was destiny...all the Golden Globe winners.

I see that Ricky Gervais went down as well as a punch in the face w the assorted glitterati. It looks like his "you do a few pointless films, and then you die" motto didn't exactly appeal to the chosen few.
