Signature tailoring by iFi

The ZEN CAN Signature 6XX analogue headphone amplifier takes sonic tailoring to the next level with ActivEQ.

iFi audio ZEN CAN Signature 6XX features a (bypassable) high fidelity active EQ synergistic with the amplification circuit itself to tailor the sound of the amp to the characteristics of the popular Sennheiser HD6XX (also suitable for the Drop HD58X and the regular HD580 / 600 / 650 / 800S) to bring out the best in them, plus a (bypassable) highly realistic analog spatializer for transforming your headphones into a spacious home HiFi listening environment.

iFi audio ZEN CAN Signature 6XX will feature sophisticated circuit design and high end components as also found on the Pro iCAN to produce class-leading results in the traditional measures of performance such as THD, noise floor, output power, etc.

Here's a bit of extra information we're putting here, ahead of even the Drop post. The correction curve applied by iFi audio ZEN CAN Signature 6XX will be as follows:

The original ZEN CAN, our all-analogue headphone amplifier, boasted the ability to drive tough headphone loads, a balanced circuit design, vanishingly low levels of distortion and versatile sonic tailoring.

The ZEN CAN Signature 6XX takes this to another level. It further improves the sound quality with enhanced circuit design, whilst maintaining the versatile features of the ‘regular’ version and adding something special – a custom EQ setting precisely tailored across the entire frequency response curve to make the most of a popular headphone model.

Quality parts matter!

• Our custom OV4627 quad amplifier contains four independent Fet Operational Amplifiers using a “folded cascode” internal design also found in the so-called HDAM discrete circuitry

• Volume control uses a Tokyo Cosmos Electric (Tocos) high end multi-track potentiometer with close tolerance channel match

• Adopting mainly surface mounted components eliminates loadout’s and terminations as possible source of noise, distortion and so-called parasitic components for dramatic improvements over most leaded components

• The thin film resistors are used in all audio position have some of the lowest noise and distortion of all resistors available in the market

• The use of TDK C0G Capacitors (only surpassed by Teflon capacitors) and Panasonic ECPU eliminate capacitor induced distortion components

We additionally use an higher grade PCB Material (Black) and Panasonic Os-Con in the power supply and Elna (Silmic II) in the audio circuit to eliminate (the already very low) distortion from electrolytic capacitors
