Is an audio media transport really better than PC?

Hello guys,

I'm having some doubts about purchasing an audio grade media transport or music streamer.
Wouldn't say I'm a sole PC Hi-FI dude, by recently I've been seeing a lot of reviews and articles talking about using a audio streamer to play music can certainly outperform PC playing, like the sound quality and stuff.
I normally use Roon to play music by my PC, which is not bad, but of course not heavenly I'd say haha... anyways, so recently I did some researches about some audio streamer/media transport with fair prices, there's one called Munich M1T, the price is worth a shot, and it's Roon Ready certified, but I'm just still hesitating that if I should buy it.

Can anyone share some insights with me? I'll be grateful big timeee~

I have been using a Roon Nucleus+ for about 2 years and have been looking at going to a Server/Streamer. I have found some are better and some are just different. I don't know anything about the Munich M1T but it seems like a nice unit. Maybe you can reach out to your dealer and see if you can get one to demo.

I will say I used to own a PS Audio DSD with a bridge card that I was using for streaming. Everyone on the PS Audio forum was saying how great the Sonore Rendu players where. I gave one a try to compare against my PS Audio bridge card and yes it was a difference. But for me it wasn't enough of an improvement for me to replace my bridge card. If I hadn't had the bridge card I would have kept the Sonore unit.

I use a Nucleus + to Lumin U-1 Transport as a Roon endpoint into a PSA Audio ( without bridge) quiet-no noise floor issues BUT______ one more piece of equipment. I am now looking for a streaming dac that is roon ready and use a USB conncet for the Nucleus. The industry has so many great streaming options. If you haven't tried it go to darkoaudio. com for John's sessions on dacs and streamers-- also his stuff on you tube.

I went from using my latest version MacMini to an Innous Zen MKiii as server and streamer and can say there is so much more detail and musicality using it. I just have the ethernet going directly into the Innous and usb to the DAC. Even though the Innous can be used with Roon, I just use their (Innous) software, which is great.

I've had a chance to play with a number of dedicated players (although not many of the boutique lines) and not yet found any reason to choose one over a PC-based streamer. Note, though, that I am biased by my preference for multichannel and most of the proprietary streamers will support no more than 2 channels.
