Jute or cotton bags are my solution. These last for years.
Since decades our family tries to avoid any plastic bag.

Those material bags that they sell @ the grocery stores, are they all made of cotton, or nylon, or hemp, or a combination? I use several type when grocery shopping.
Some grocery stores use only paper bags (eg.; Thrifty), others only plastic (eg.; Walmart).

Could be a problem...

Plactic of course. It has been a problem for years and years; in our oceans, for the fishes, in our lakes, rivers, in our air, in our soil, in our beaches, for the tourists, the locals, ...it is raining plastic in our mountains, in our melting snow, in our gardens, in our schools, in our children, it is raining plastic in our lungs and it gives us cancer.

It is not "could be", it is a real problem, for our health, for our environment, for our evolution.

IMHO
