Back in the early 90s, I had a pair of Jadis JA200 and a Jadis JPL preamp. Due to the temperamental nature of the 200s, popping caps in the power supply every so often, I finally gave up and sold them and took the ARC way, retaining my JPL preamp till around 2014 when I sold it as well.

About 3 weeks ago, my ARC VS115 popped a biasing resistor, after 5 years of use. I thought it was a 'sign' to change them into something new. I had in mind other ARCs but the new ones take only XLRs and I do not have them on the preamp side. Prima Luna was very interesting, monoblocks with auto biasing. Then I was talking to the local dealer of Jadis (not even a serious contender in my books due to the present prices) and he told me of a new stereo model that gives out 150 watts. That attracted my attention, as I never went past 120 watts in driving my Magnepan 2.7QRs for all its time with me. Next thing I check was if it is auto biasing and it it, then a few calls and texts with the dealer and it was delivered to my room first thing in the morning.

Factory sealed, and delicately opened.

The amp is truly a visual stunner, just like all other Jadis products. Gold plates, stainless chassis, shiny 'everything', and factory selected tubes individually marked for each position as matched pairs. Each power tube also has test readings sticked on the metal part of the tube. And as usual, auto bias means each tube has its own protection fuse and red LED light. The transformers are huge. The exciting part is someday, I can tube roll the 6 input tubes, 2 12AX7s and 4 12 AU7s. I've got my 'identity' back again. :)

In the 90s, the dealer gave me this T-shirt...now I can start wearing it again. :)

Initial impressions, the amp sounds like 200 watts, and the power and weight can be felt right away. Instruments are more defined, and the stage just opens up like crazy. Wide and deep, with 3D imaging. I never imagined an amp to improve my system so much. It did. The Jadis 'sweetness' is certainly present, and very welcome. :)

IS THE JADIS PA-100 AUTO BIAS OR DO YOU HAVE TP REMOVE THE BOTTOM PLATE TO BIAS TUBES?

Hi,

It is auto bias. I had to verify it at the dealer's by asking them to open up the bottom plate for me to see if there are manual bias pots, and there were none. Also beside each power tube socket is a small red LED indicator. If it lights up, time to change the power tubes, and I was told that even its other partner has to be changed even thought its LED did not light up.

Nice point to point wiring . I think the predecessor the DA/Defy 7 had a circuit board but am not sure . Enjoy it in good health Phillip .

I have nice memories of the Jadis 845. I hope their reliability has improved. I might acquire a lower powered Jadis for my stacked Quads after this corona virus home quarantine is over.

I have the same thought in mind, Sam, regarding its reliability. I decided to give it another go last year.
