Good suggestion Justin...except for the current fact that there are NO B4 AD1 adapters to be found. Seems like you got a unicorn! Only UX4 adapters for AD1 is on offer anywhere I could find...and I looked HARD. LoL

Pretty sure these will work as UX4 extenders, as I measured the socket depth in the Pac: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191599610509?ul_noapp=true

Good thinking though...

You will be OK on or after the 16th Feb. Maybe.

Don't use those Norman they won't work. They look like a CMC socket copy.

I have some CMC UX4 sockets and the pins on the underside are all the same size.

its only 2cm recessed on the Pac. Could be that the extender is not needed as the hole is bigger.

2cm is a lot. Why recess it? Looks?

I think you will need the discussed set up. That AD1 socket is wide.

Be interesting to see what you actually get through the post.

Who is selling the ones you have shown? They still probably won't have enough reach IMHO.

Norman me old chap you didn't show me any socket extenders a few days ago.

Suzier audio sells those.

The extenders were actually ceramic sockets.

I agree your approach is most certain and will suit Golum the best as he has the vintage px25s. Its most economical for him.

Here are picture of what can be used as Extenders and can be bought in France for double price:

Norman I have already told you they won't work.

Look I have some. See below. The ones I have are real CMC sockets. They cannot be used as extenders!!!! I have already said why.

I am not saying anymore on this topic!!!!:)

Yours have the nuts on the pin that may block insertion. Look closely at my pictures.

Looks closely at yours. All underside pins are the SAME WIDTH. They are tube sockets not tube extenders Norman.

UX4 sockets have two fat pins and two thin pins so you orientate the tube correctly.

I cannot see how you can fail to accept this.

Also they have mounting brackets because they are sockets. Extenders don't need them.

Yours probably don't have the rings in the underside legs because they are copies of the CMC design.

GG1 uses CMC sockets. Maybe others too.

i know all this Justin. Chill. Really not trying to upset you, as you have been very helpful with this topic.

If the pins are small enuff to fit in the small holes, then I am GOLDEN. The only problem is if all pins are fat and wont go into the skinny holes and I dont think so from visual inspections. Old DHT tybes like real WE 101ds have 4 pins all the same size. Some vintage DHTs have short pins too. Vintage tubes can be all over the place.

In summary, it is quite possible to use other solutions that have not been blessed by the manufacturers. The real obstacle is the internal wiring that must confirm to UX4 and as these are 300b sockets...its for sure! In any case...its cheap to try.

How are you golden even if they all fit in? They'll be as loose as f#£k.

You will find all 4 pins are smaller than even the smallest holes. Unusable. Unless you solder them in and ruin your Lampi.

Curious.

Come on Norman. Just admit your wrong LOL.;)

Golum, do you want these?

The problem is the pin surround will come out stuck on the pin of one of your RD27AS when you pull it out. Otherwise I think they will work.

Let me check them for continuity first, but fairly sure they will work.

Your risk, though. But not much of one. Your DAC won't blow up even if there's no continuity on one of the pins.

i am sure Golum will want them. It makes total sense for him having both ad1 and RD27.
