I glanced at the specs and it all reads well. Like the built-in power supply too. What is the bit about the battery? Normally runs from that and the supply then charges it?

That's what I understand. The Young DAC can run at least 4 hours from the Palmer battery pak and will charge when done. I know Gary Koh uses the Young DAC at shows with his setups.

I can't even find what chips the Young DAC uses. I don't like not being able to find even that basic info. Hmmmmm.

You're welcome. I'm a bit of a DAC chip anorak - it could even be described as an obsession of mine, so its satisfying to put that to good use :)

Awesome!

That's why I love this place :) Plus I've learned a new word ;)

Is it the Young or the Vaughan DAC that this thread is about? The Thread title says the Vaughan but the link to Digitalaudio Blog is to the Young DAC article.
I guess Marco (M2tech) is following my lead in running his devices purely from batteries :).

Are you sure it's the same DAC chip? How is this determined?

My word, a lot of delusion jumping this morning :) If its the same DAC chip they'd be idiots to be paralleling them - no advantage from what I can see. So my first guess is - assuming a modicum of competence in the designers - that its a multibit DAC they're using. Otherwise, why parallel?

Anyway, little to no technical details about the Vaughan is available - am I correct or should I go back to bed & start the day again?

More industrial DAC chips? That's an interesting theory! 32/384 though?? Is this possible with known industrial DAC chips - 4 per channel?
