These are the tapes that I have enjoyed for more than a few times in the last week. Incredible performances, especially the cello performance. Narek is special and we are lucky to have intimate recordings of him in this format. If you are asking me, these tapes are must have tapes. It is hard to get master tapes with music performed at this caliber. I do not care for incredible recordings with mediocre performances. Getting legendary performances from the past in actual master tape copies with provenance is also a rare occurrence.

I especially love the Paganini variation and the whole Grieg Concerto. Me and my wife as well as my friends were also very interested in hearing the effects of different bows, which also gave us a feeling of even more intimacy.

Thanks Ed, I will surely be getting more and more of your tapes and even try to join you on one of those concert dates!

I certainly endorse and share the views expressed in the above post ... but with an added comment.

Mention in particular should be made of Ed’s reel of Beethoven’s variations of Mozart’s Magic Flute & that composer’s Cello Sonata No. 3. I have heard several renditions of these pieces over the years, and I must say the performance by both Narek on cello and his accompaniest, Noreen Polera, on piano is the most compelling I have ever experienced ... truly inspired!

This is one tape NOT TO BE MISSED.
