Wow, that could create very difficult situations for both teams. Hope the deal goes through.

Yeah, awkward situation if the deal falls through, specially for Boston where IT and Crowder's psyche will be different coming back to Boston where they were just shipped off. The buzz on the forum (on the C's side) is of course Cleveland is using the physical as leverage to yank more picks from Ainge, as the hip injury of IT was public knowledge even during last season's playoffs. Anyway, this is yet another sign of the 'business' aspect of the game. Cleveland should remember that Kyrie does not even want to report to their training camp in the next few weeks and they will find fewer teams with better assets than that 1st round pick of the Nets next year. At any rate, there was that botched Pau Gasol - Chris Paul deal as precedent, and Pau wan't really happy. So we know what to expect.

After a week of agreeing to the trade, the Cavs and Celtics are on a staredown mode, and the one that truly has the most to lose is IT. The Cavs have blown off or maybe overblown the IT hip injury when in fact they had been given all the medical disclosures they need (even ex Cav GM David Griffin said so) and now the sticking point is that they Cavs want one more draft pick to compensate on something which they knew all along, IT's hip injury. Nobody ever told the Cavs IT would be ready and 100% come training camp anyway. So IT came up yesterday for the first time telling the media that he is not damaged goods. Poor guy, whether he stayed in Boston or the Cavs, would have commanded at huge raise from his $6m salary come free agency which is after next season. Now, he stock suddenly diminished due to nothing of his own doing. Some execs even said that even without IT in the deal package, Cleveland has an equal trade value with Crowder Zizic and most importantly, the Nets draft pick which is unprotected - and that was an indication from the C's camp that IT's hip issue was being greatly compensated already. There is a deadline for the signing of the trade, 15 hours from now, and I hope the deal will proceed. There is nothing to be gained on both sides if the worst happens. If it happens, it will be 5 players for Kyrie. I am still waiting for Kyrie to be in a green uniform. I'm already sunk into it.

Dan Gilbert, owner of the Cavs, has issues. Can't seem to get along with his players or his management team.

He recently pulled out of a plan to renovate the Cavaliers arena because it appeared that Cleveland voters wouldn't subsidize half of the cost.

He lost a very accomplished general manager when he refused to pay David Griffin a salary competitive with others around the NBA in same position.

Rumor has it LeBron wants to bail when his contract is over as well due to issues with Gilbert.

So, it isn't surprising that he is trying to leverage the Celtics when he has a very good offer in his pocket for a disgruntled player.

Don't give in, Celtics!

A dysfunctional owner. And knowing that Irving has a no-trade clause, it's not easy to shop him around. So this balking is really a bit strange.

Celtics - Cavs deal is done.

Celtics added a 2020 second round draft choice.

Small price to pay to get it done

Kyrie Irving reportedly ecstatic to play for Brad Stevens, Celtics

https://clutchpoints.com/kyrie-irving-ecstatic-play-brad-stevens-celtics/

I've never felt this great about a player joining the C's since KG came to Beantown. And knowing that Kyrie wants to be a Celtic is great news indeed. Ainge can still swing a homerun with another package deal with the Pelicans, as I hear some whispers that refuse to die. :D

If that were to happen then I will hate the Celts and Ainge in particular even more ... What he's shown: Patience , vision and leadership .. used to be what the Lakers were about with Kupchak and Jerry West in the background ..

Reports are that it won't be 'now'. :) But if the Pelicans keep losing in the years to come, it may trigger a 'request' to get out. AD is signed through 2021. Ainge has a lot of time to wait for that 'opportunity' to happen in between. Patience.

Pacers are accusing the Lakers of tampering with Paul George apparently based on comments Magic made to the media.

That seems a bit of a stretch to me given that there are lots of comments made by team management during free agency.

Time will tell and one article I read says the Pacers will need a "paper" trail to win this case with the league.

And today, the NBA actually did something surprising.

https://sports.yahoo.com/lakers-receive-one-largest-fines-173105372.html

And this is funny:

"Lakers president Magic Johnson was presumed to be at fault, because he had gotten the Lakers fined for tampering before (while still holding a ceremonial front-office title) and because he went on television to wink at George. "

New Look KI on NBA 2K18. Looks like he doesn't even want his old No. 2 jersey. A whole new world.
